apersio... just realized, due to a recent post, that there might be another delica owner in SF which had some mechanical work done there. You might want to reach out for info/feedback regarding the mechanic. User is "team_ream". Would've known earlier if team_ream was on the US map :)

Sorry for the super slow response but I wanted to wait until it was resolved before responding. Happy to report that the 4th gear issue is resolved and the van is running like a champ.

Hi Apersio. I am experiencing the same 4th gear issue with my 1990 Delica L300 (128,000 km) up in Tahoe, with no mechanics to work on it. What was the fix for yours? Thanks!

Snomad74... would you like me to add you to the map of delica owners in US? Just a way to see who is where for possible meetups, help on the road, etc. Or feel free to add yourself. Hi Furi. Thanks a lot for the sending me the map link. I think that could be very helpful in the future, if not for my current issue.

No problem. Let me know if you want me to add you.
There was another user in your area that was looking to check out a Deli personally before buying one. He looked on the map and closest person was in SF. I told him/her about you :) So the map is getting plenty of use today.

I love that map Furi, hopefully more people will pop their pin on it.
By the way, I'm from Flushing Queens. Nice to see a Delica owner representing

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Great place; moving to Queens was the cheapest way of seeing the world :) But if all goes accordingly to plan I'll be leaving here in June for a road trip around the country. Will miss the food/festivals/people.javabob wrote:I love that map Furi, hopefully more people will pop their pin on it.

apersio, what mechanic did you end up going with in SF? I just got my Delica a couple weeks ago and want to find someone reliable in the Bay Area.

Yes I did add, and thanks! We drove over 7000km from the east coast back to San Francisco. Just got my plates yesterday. Super excited. When I got my oil changed in Montana the mechanic told me I have a leaking transfer case seal on the output shaft. Gotta get it fixed. He said he couldn't believe it was a 91, said it was super clean.

There is also Deli owner in Lake tahoe if you want to reach out regarding local mechanics. Info on the map. Was your car registered in US before you purchased? How was your experience? Some folks had a difficult time registering their Deli's in California. I didn't even go down that road once I researched it.kyre wrote:Yes I did add, and thanks! I'm also heading west; probably get to SF(my previous home) sometimes in Fall. So much to see in-between!!! :)

I found a shop that'll do the work (PNK Automotive) and has said he worked on another like mine in the city. He just said I need to bring the parts as he doesn't want to look up the parts himself (which I get).
Need an output shaft seal on the transfercase and he said the turbo drain is starting to weep oil.
I believe I found the seal from another thread but I'm not sure what is needed for the turbo drain. Any ideas?
