Re: HELP!! RAN OUT OF DIESEL!!!
I would try removing the battery for saftey then remove bleed bolt on top of fuel filter assy.On top of the fuel filter assy is a pump.pump it until fuel starts coming out of hole.Put bolt back in and start. You might have to do this several times to get all the air out.
Hope it helps.

Re: HELP!! RAN OUT OF DIESEL!!!
Not sure on the Mitsu if it helps to crack the lines on the injectors or not.
I would also put a new fuel filter in before you start encase it sucked up some stuff from the bottom of the tank. Then prime it as above. If it has doesn't start I may crack the fuel lines at the injectors (helps on tractors, but my Mercedes would start no problem with the prime.
Good luck.

Re: HELP!! RAN OUT OF DIESEL!!!
You don't need to remove the battery.
Why would you do that?
weird.
As stated in the 2.5 4D5 Fuel pump pdf found here in the files
1. Loosen the fuel filter air plug
2. Place rags around the air plug hole. Operate the hand pump repeatedly until
no bubbles come from the plug hole. Tighten air plug.
3. Repeat until the hand pump operation becomes stiff.
Give it a go.

Re: HELP!! RAN OUT OF DIESEL!!!
I am by no means an expert, but on most Diesels there is a pump on the top of the fuel filter, just a little circular spring thing that you can press down. If I remember correctly, you remove the fuel line to the engine, and press the pump on the top of the fuel filter over and over again until fuel comes out of the line, then you hook the line back up and then pump the pump about 40X more, then try to start it.
BUT - I would not try this based on my opinion alone. I believe that the injection pump can be damaged if this is done incorrectly!

It's a disk shaped thingy on the top of the fuel filter assembly, a little more than 1 inch across.
It's visible in the top left corner of this pic: http://www.delica.ca/Photos/albums/user ... MG2439.JPG

Re: HELP!! RAN OUT OF DIESEL!!!
yup, your going to have to pump the top of the fuel filter until it gets Hard , then you will have to pump the throttle pedal as you start it, once you get it started, you will have to back off the nut on each fuel line right at the injector and have it pump out the air, you will need a rag to catch the high presure fuel spray, should take a few seconds per fuel line, got to get the air out...not as tough of a job as its made out to be, just a little intimidating when you havent done it before.

Re: HELP!! RAN OUT OF DIESEL!!!
There is a little 10mm bolt on the top/side of the filter housing.
That is the bleed valve.
Pump the pump until it gets hard. Then crack the 10mm bolt open until air/diesel comes out. You'll probably see lots of air.
Repeat that as many times as it takes until just diesel comes out without bubbles.
That will get you drivable.
Then follow Noel's steps by cracking the nut on the injectors to bleed each of them out there.

Re: HELP!! RAN OUT OF DIESEL!!!
CHANGE THE FUEL FILTER FIRST!! It will be full of stuff at the bottom of the tank and you risk doing damage to the injector pump $$$$$$$$$$
Good luck

Re: HELP!! RAN OUT OF DIESEL!!!
for a cleaner bleed then hand pump till firm, crack the bleeder, lock and repeat till all air is gone.

Sorry I did not mean "remove Battery" , I mean Disconect Battery..for saftey. The fuel filter assy and Battery are in close proximity.I would personally want to prevent any sort of spark when performing the bleed procedure.

Re: HELP!! RAN OUT OF DIESEL!!!
the idea of disconnecting the battery is not a bad one.
also understand it takes a lot to ignite diesel. a spark will not ignite it, a constant "glow" from a shorted out wrench soaked in diesel might be a concern though.
