New Source for Rear Tailgate Struts in US

Post by sjsd »

I was able to source brand new tailgate struts from Lift Supports Depot here in San Diego. They were able to cross reference the original part# and get me aftermarket direct replacements for about $60 for the pair. They include the brackets and line up perfectly. Let me know if anyone is interested and I can get you the part #. I don't think they stock these, but they can ship anywhere.

The part number would be handy just for cross-referencing purposes, even if we're ordering from someone more local.

I've attached images of the schematics. The part# and manufacturer are listed on it. I ordered them through Lift Support Depot in San Diego, which was a special order. I bet you could get them through another company though.

The part number is about useless to find it overhere....So I did found the US retailer and wrote him (NO idea about the price ???), here is the answer:Greetings: We only have 1 set left in stock at this time. We have more on order and they should be in early April. Once we have them we can add to our web site. We will be glad to take orders in advance over the phone.

Thank You
Lou Fishman

ALSO, did found a Europe website (http://autopartmaster.com) with apparently fair prices (below 50$ each):

I stumbled onto their website, they have lift supports listed under Mitsubishi Delica. I ordered them. Apparently there is a difference between the P25W low roof and P35W high roof lift supports. They were about 4" too long. Lou at Lift Supports Depot is going to get some made for the P25W now, should be stocked in about 90 days. I assume they would ship to Canada.

Here is the link to the high roof version:

Does anyone know if they still lift the gate with a ladder on it?

mine has a ladder. I don't know if it's oem or not, it's fairly light. the worn out struts barely hold it up, it takes about 60 seconds and then it will close itself. I could put all my weight (195 lbs) on the old struts and they would barely compress. The new ones they sent I couldn't budge at all. So I'm hopeful they'll work just fine.
