92 Pajero, 4d56t
Not seeing any power at fuel cutoff solenoid power line. Having trouble following the wire.
Any insight where I should be looking to solve this problem ? (tested solenoid, it's fine)
Thanks !
fuel cutoff solenoid power line ... where does it route from ?

Re: fuel cutoff solenoid power line ... where does it route from ?
On an L300 it's a large black with white stripe wire that goes directly to the ignition switch (not through any fuses).
If a Pajero's setup is similar, then the same circuit also runs the dashboard warning lights and reverse lamps: if they don't work, then the trouble is probably in your ignition switch. If reverse lamps and dash lights work, then it's probably a break in the wire between the switch and the solenoid.
I have no idea about wiring loom routing on a Paj, sorry. You might have to follow the whole loom through the engine bay, looking for any damage.

Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.

Thanks for the response Growlerbearnz.
All the dash and rear lights are working. All electrical appears fine actually. Just the line to the fuel cut off solenoid.
My neighbour has been helping me (but he's not too familiar with Pajeros) mentioned it might be connected to some anti-theft inhibitor box thingy and that's shutting it down.
Never heard of such a thing on an older Pajero. Kinda doubting this.
I'm guessing this line is coming off of a fuse ?

Re: fuel cutoff solenoid power line ... where does it route from ?
The line that drives the cutoff solenoid doesn't have its own fuse- not on an L300 anyway.
I guess it *might* have an immobiliser- is it an Exceed or Super Exceed? Some of them had remote entry from the factory which might have incorporated an immobiliser.
The easiest way to bypass it would be to run a new wire directly from the black/white stripe wire at the ignition switch to the cutoff solenoid.

Growlerbearnz,
It's a 92 V44 series. No remote entry. Have never referred to it and a Exceed ? Just a 92 Pajero, 4 door, V44, 4d56t. If it's called something else that would be news to me !
I didn't think there was a dedicated fuse for this solenoid, or at least I couldn't find one.
Ok, makes sense for trouble shooting to try your routing suggestion. Any idea where that wire originates heading up to the ignition switch ? Can't seem to find that information.
Thanks.

Ah. I meant "is it an Exceed? (or even a Super Exceed?)". Exceed/Super Exceed are trim levels which included remote entry- but you'd know if yours was that trim level, Mitsubishi put shiny "exceed" badges all over the place.
Not in a Pajero, sorry. On an L300 there's a convenient connector at the base of the steering column.Artie Fufkin wrote:Any idea where that wire originates heading up to the ignition switch ?

Ok, I'll check if Pajero has same type of connector at steering column.Growlerbearnz wrote:Artie Fufkin wrote:Have never referred to it and a Exceed ?

Re: fuel cutoff solenoid power line ... where does it route from ?
Found the problem ...
6 pin connector on harness feeding that section, power up to feed side, other side was dead. Wire was broken.
Now everything works fine except something is not quite right with timing. All witness marks are lined up but I guess fuel pump needs to be angled a bit to dial it in, now idea how to go about that.
Fires great and vehicle starts every time but ... rev's a bit higher than normal then dies out.
Maybe I should start a new thread on timing.
Argh ....
P.S.
Thanks for the help Growlerbearnz.
