uh-oh... that sounds suspiciously like the description my girlfriend would give of a Delica meet....Rural wrote:Much more-so than sitting around with a pack of nerds talking about technology

Re: Calgary meet 18 May
Despite storms moving through the city all afternoon, the rain mostly held off. A good time was had by all. I put up my Shadyboy awning to demonstrate. Then it looked like it would start raining, and before I could roll up the awning it started raining. So we gathered under the awning instead! You can see it (not very well), second from the right
We had 8 Delicas show up for Rural to look at: 6 L300s and 2 L400s.
Next time we'll have to go somewhere!

Re: Calgary meet 18 May
Thanks to everyone that showed up.
I was impressed by the vehicles, relieved by the fact that nobody had any major issues (as long as the vehicles were brought up to snuff before going for a 1000km cruise), but most of all I was moved by how nice everybody was.
Unfortunately, I don't think in terms of names, just faces. So this will be cumbersome, but there were a few key tidbits that were shared that were especially useful. Examples: Different approaches for fastening child-seats. Some of the back-story about the debate on where to get Delicas serviced in Calgary. The fact that the headrests have to be removed when folding up the rear (bench) seat on the SWB Delis.
Frankly, I had to agree with the fellow that thought there should be more to a meet-up than just standing around a parking lot and talking. Surely somebody knows a nice fishing hole that would be a fun drive in for a Delica? Camping? How about doing some maintenance work, like hitting all the grease-points? Actually, doing some maintenance work would be a real cool way to get some knowledge spread around.
The end result of the evening was that I've been pushed off the fence. Before the event I was leaning away from the LWB Super Exceeds and would have preferred a SWB Exceed. Now, I'd be happy with any of the 400s. And that's not to knock the 300s. I really like their distinctive look, prefer it in fact.

I too was impressed with "the gang". It was great meeting all of the people that were there, a good group of people and interesting to talk to (on topic and off). There were a couple of people I didn't get a chance to speak with but next time for sure. Rural had a lot to take in in a short period of time! Looking forward to more gatherings!

Re: Calgary meet 18 May
Thanks for organizing the meet guys. Kelly and Sydney (Dog) liked seeing everyone's ride and meeting all of you. This was our first deli meet and will not be the last. Learned lots of new things, and hope to learn more. Based on recommendations I have Pandora in at the Car Salon getting tinted and a new stereo/w front door speakers. I am off to the coast in the next few days for a couple of weeks, if anyone needs anything brought back pm me.
