We are going camping.. you can too! Thanksgiving Oct 9 10 11

Post by Artacoma »

Me n' Julie and Zoe and you guys
The plan is to leave my place (Victoria) on sat morning and drive thru Port Renfrew to Lake Cowichan and camp at a forestry site on the lake or enroute, eat spareribs and grilled veggies .
Then on sunday drive to the north end of the lake hang a sharp left and an hour or two of roughish logging road going past Nitnat into the Carmanah Forest and a 45 minute hike to here the Cheewat Cedar .... a reeaaalllly big tree.
Then picnic baskets
Then back to same camp or other and an evening of telling lies and eating of foods.
The hike in the forest will be wet no matter the weather but it's worth it.
I haven't been on those roads for a couple of years but the vistas around Nitnat are fantasic , last time I used 4 wheel for 1/2 the drive.

I would love to join you guys! Mind if I tag along? I would probably have to ride in someone's Deli if there's room, as my car is too low to the ground & likely wouldn't take the trails too well... All I need is an address up there & I can bring along any gear I might need for 3 days. I usually pack pretty light for camping & such, so if someone has the room & doesn't mind, I'm good to go! :-D

Absolutely!!!
You are totally welcome to come along, I don't want an extra passenger for the whole journey but any car can make it to the camping spot and you can hop a ride with us for the journey to the BIG tree.
Maybe someone else with pipe up with more space?
After a sunny day like today it's hard to not wanna be out there.

Cheers ..... I'll post a gathering point sometime closer to DDay ...... waved to seven delis today!

:M You guys are awesome, Delica.ca rules! Thanks for the reply, & I am looking forward to the trip! What should I pack besides warm clothes & bedding? Should I bring some cash, and do businesses up North accept the Green Slips? :-D

Anyone know what the weather's gonna be like for the camping weekend? I'm wondering what I should pack/wear to be prepared for the weather, road conditions, ETC...

We made it, despite a change in routing, and we're set up, and we're frelling wet!

It's raining a little bit. Hopefully it'll be a little less wet tomorrow when we make our hike.
