Paul lives right across the street from the high school, that way on his days days off he can sit on the front porch and yell at the kids, "Hey you kids, get off my lawn! when I was your age, we didn't have fancy lawns to play on, we didn't even have Nintendo! Our idea of fun was to play in traffic and pour salt on snails!"

We'll join the convoy at Goldstream Park, about 9:45 ish? Probably stop in Druncan for fuel.

Are you going to be pulled over at the ice cream stop? We'll slow down on our way by...kb&2dogs wrote:We'll join the convoy at Goldstream Park, about 9:45 ish? Probably stop in Druncan for fuel.

I took a picture of the Campbell River contingent at the Willow Point fuel stop this morning, but forgot all about taking pictures once at the beach I did see Chewy snapping off shots though, so I'm sure there will be a fair selection forthcoming. Was great to see some familiar faces and to meet a couple more delica.ca members in person. Lots of dogs too No rain, but there sure was a chilly breeze comin' in off the chuck - burrr. After having a sniff over the delis most headed over to a fire or walked on the beach while Hazelnut and I took our two mutts cycling for a few loops through the campground and got out the wind for a bit. Stopped by the fire again and then back to the delis and the windy parking lot for a little more bus-talk and then we all loaded up and motored off. A fun day

Good meet with turnout from north and south of the Island (more from the north than if we'd held it in the Victoria-area). Did anyone else leave with a bit of wind-burn? Wow! Was that something else? Wasn't bad once we moved behind the line of trees.
Here's a couple of pictures. Kathy and Brian 'forgot' their trailer, and the only van missing in the second line-up is Wookie's (but it's in one of Konadog's shots). Nice to have met you and Kelsi. Our visiting Mainlander - marsgal42 (Laura). She didn't bring any of her telescopes with her, which I had hoped for, but she indicated that the sun is a little 'boring' right now as it is currently going through it's 'low' cycle of sunspot activity. Maybe next time. The "Landmaster 96-69" close-up! Nice detail shot... I have to agree with John: Weird Al does make good driving tunes! My favorites are Airline Amy, You Don't Love Me Any More, Melanie, and the Truck Drivin' Song. EDIT: I got a new sticker, compliments of Konadog - check it out! Now all I need is a sticker from the Oz club. And finally, some shots I took on the way home: Laura gets the award for making it to the meet...
...and Glenn (ccautos) gets the award for not making it to the meet. Next time I guess we'll just have to park on his front lawn. Like in August, maybe?

Yes, a good time was had by all. Thanks, everybody! I'm glad I didn't have to take any cookies home. Funny the way homemade cookies always disappear.
I saw Northern Adventure pulling out of Nanaimo in the morning, and saw a pod of dolphins in Georgia Strait on the way back. Great fun. When I was putting my money in the parking machine at Rathtrevor Beach I explained to a couple of people that it wasn't so much a club as a loose get-together, what the vehicles were, that they were privately imported from Japan, had diesel engines and 4 wheel drive and could go just about anywhere, and that yes, they were all right-hand drive. As usual, BC Ferries didn't bat an eyelash at Horseshoe Bay or Departure Bay.
I saw a really gnarly-looking Delica at Woodgrove Centre in Nanaimo in the morning, green, lifted, big tires, fog lights, major roof rack. Also a very pretty JDM Honda Prelude with badges on the back about active 4 wheel steering.
Until next time (maybe the wind won't be so bloody cold),

Re: Day meet Rathtrevor Beach - 21 March 2009
sorry guys... here's the scoop: I used my girlfriend's camera to take the pics since I forgot mine in vic. Then she says she needs it, so I get her to upload to my ftp, which is easy because I had loaded the login info onto her computer the last time I was there. She then deletes the pictures from the camera. I get to work to upload em, and it won't let me login for whatever reason. I go home, try to log in, ok, good, lets me in. Now I try to edit the plate numbers out of all of them and then re upload them, no dice. Been stupid busy between work and selling the black delica ever since, I have some free time tonight, I'll try to get them up!
