Princess Auto Meet, Victoria, BC - 10h00, 27 Nov 2011

Post by mararmeisto »

So I've been walking BEHIND this construction for about two months now, and it's only once I drove down the road IN FRONT of it that I now know what's going on: IT'S A FREAKIN' PRINCESS AUTO IN VICTORIA AND IT'S ONLY A BLOCK FROM MY PLACE! :shock:

Okay, now that I've calmed down a bit, opening week I'll be in the parking lot looking for other JDM vehicles and drivers to hang out with. We'll wander the aisles in delight, exuberant in our joy of potential modifications, re-works, re-do's, do-agains, and just plain wishful thinking.

As soon as I know when this place is opening (I imagine it's going to be at least another two months), I'll amend the title and announce the meet. Any interest? I'll probably get some stickers made up for the event.

No Kathy, there really is a Princess Auto in Victoria - or at least there will be.

Okay, I can do this...
Differences:
  • Third tree on the left is missing a branch;
  • The curve about the maple leaf on the sign is slightly narrower;
  • The knob is missing on the porto-potty;
  • The modular control panel on the Genie Lift is missing the jib control;
  • The second window from the right, on the upper floor is missing the ominous figure;
  • The grass in the foreground is missing some of the weeds;
  • The whole picture is bigger in the first post;
  • "Strata Warehouse Units for Sale" has a line running through it on the second post;
  • The patch of sky in the first post is bigger that the one in the second post;
  • The maple leaves on the signs are different.

Am I right? Do I win?

The workers stocking the store mentioned a mid-November opening.

I drive by each weekend looking for an announcement posted in the windows or on a sign out front.

Re: Princess Auto Meet - potentially mid-November

Confirmation: the new location is opening the 15th of November.

Now that's a Tuesday, so that sucks for a meet, and considering I'm going to be on the Mainland for the Pajero meet on the 18th, that makes it necessary to schedule this gathering for the following weekend (26-27 November). I'll still be there opening day (after work), but holding the "official" meet on a weekend makes better sense - I think.

What works better for people? A Saturday or a Sunday? I'll leave this question open for a week and then failing a consensus pick a day that works best for me.

Sunday is better for us, Saturday is usually pretty chaotic.
