Damn customs
Bloody Canadian customs held my latest containers for two weeks until I could supply proof of production date on a `92 Pajero . The bad news is I didn`t get to meet up with everyone as I was in Parksville unloading cars . The good news is my lifted Delica made it in one piece just a shame I couldn`t get it over to show everyone . Is there any plans in the works to meet again either on the Island or mainland in the near future ?? Does anyone want to meet on the island for a family camping weekend ?? I got my Delica and now I need to use it !!!!

Island Meet 2007
Oh boy, I'd like to see more of the North Island in the coming months. It would be great to get something happening before "T season". Did any one get spare club stickers from this First Meet?

Glen,
I'd like to meet for a family type camping weekend. Got to the first night in Weaver Lake but this was more of a 4X4 weekend and I wasn't really up for a couple of days of driving through the back areas, not really my thing. Great bunch of guys though!!
I ended up taking my son to Harrison Hot Springs for a swim then on to the Vancouver Zoo. By the time we got to Whistler it was 5pm and just in time to find a camp ground, he really enjoyed this part because he found some kids to play with for a few hours. Next day we spent at Whistler then back for an evening ferry. He ended up having a great weekend.
Anyway, I'd love to meet for a couple of days at a nice camp ground with play areas or hiking where the kids can find lots to do, preferably on the Island (not cheap to travel to the mainland!!!).

Island meet
So by the response so far I`m thinking we should have another get together on the Island in the coming months ?? Would there be more interest in the north of the Island or the south ?? Maybe out towards Tofino ?? Anyone know of good family camping that would welcome a bunch of `Delica Dorks` ???

hey guys, i'd love to show up and see everyone.
I don't know much about the island but I'll help any way I can. I'll be on the island canada day weekend if anyone wants to meet at the beginning or end of the weekend i'd extend my trip. as in thursday night or sunday night probably, otherwise pick a date that works for oyu all and i'll try to come say hi, I don't have to abuse my ride everywhere I go, don't worry i'll keep it tame.

My Delica nerd alert went off again!
I won't come to a meet unless I get to see Adam thrash his Deli'; that makes it soooooo worthwhile. Adam, was the pic in your avatar taken during the meet, looks like a end-o in the making?
Honestly I had a great time meeting everybody in the raw (no, I don't mean the hotsprings ) and we all had much more in common then just our Delica's. If there is a summer Deli' fest I only have two requirements; more time at a campsite and my family will join me, and schedule it before mid august please - I'll have to go back to work after that.

The origin of the expression "cold shoulder".
Hi gang,
I would be fully stoked to do something on the island. We have a collection of friends sprinkled liberally from Nanaimo to Comox and so we could make a great family tour out of it. There will however, be the problem of getting people to go home afterwards. Nobody leaves the island voluntarily.
I do also think though, that once in a while we need to put something together that is more central so that the Alberians, Saskaweejians, Manitoobers, Ontoshians, Quebec-cars, maybe even an Atlantian or two could make the trip. We aren't all lotus eaters after all. For instance, we could do two regular things a year; The Deli-Reli, an off road expedition to parts unknown to bust, bend and loose parts unknown, and The Deli-Derby, a merciless, multi-day attack on the fish population of some North Central lakes and rivers. (That's right Mr. Porter....We know where you live now.)

well I'm not much of a fisherman... and although I like the offroad ability of the Deli, I'm still sticking to "mild" offroad for the most part (or better stated perhaps is that I'm willing to do some off road, but I don't want to do a full weekend of dawn to dusk challenging offroad stuff)
but as for location, for those in BC if you work things to be east of Vancouver (even if it's only a short distance) as opposed to the island you make it much easier for us in Alberta to attend (I can be in Vancouver same day with time to spare, but the island is pushing it a bit...)

i'm all about the island!
:D Yeah, i have a couple ideas, lets doit on the island, it could be meeting around sooke, at the sooke pot-holes, wicked campground, perfect for kids, we would have to reserve our spots ahead of time, or further up, take the back roads thru cowichan lake all the way to pacheena bay campground, right on the ocean, close proximity to bamfield and the hikes to the light houses, or what about hitting sooke pot ho;es one day and night, then motor up towards port renfrew and hit french beach campground, jordan river camp ground then china beach campground then finish up at the ocean front campground of port renfrew right on the beach with an interprative walk on botanical beach with all its wicked tidal pools, kids would love it, great beach combing.. or meet up north, take the back roads thru courtney and port alberni, then over to the long beach golf course campground in tofino which once again we would have to book ahead as this area of the island gets crazy busy in the summer...
and oh by the way, how about planning it so i am not at sea this time, i have a whole month off at the time, it can't be that hard!! :P :P possibilities are endless on the island, accessible, and kids friendly.. The mariner!

I'd definitely be up for an island meet. May or June works for me, my girlfriend and I will be in Kyuquot Sound for July and August so we're off the map then. I like the idea of wheeling through from Courtenay to Port Alberni, and there is another road that goes from Campbell River through to the north end of Gold River too I think, up by Victoria Peak area. There is a campground in Strathcona Park on Buttle Lake, it's usually not full in the early season, but I don't think it compares to camping by the ocean at Pachena! The north island has more potential for getting right amongst it, but the goods can take a full days drive to get to from Victoria, so if more people are coming from the s. island then surferboy's idea seems like a good one.

I didn't know of that back route between cowachin and Bamfield! Sounds great, gets my vote. This time we should have forum polls for location and date for our next gathering. I love the N. Isle too, and was thinking of suggesting San Josh Bay, but the extra drive up may discourage the Vancouver crowd. I do love the N van Isle, met my sweetie camping on a small N. Isle lake. The more, the sick party, and it'd be good too see all the other kids around my sons age. For some reason unknown to me, pics of our Deli's on-mass caused my teen daughter and friends to have a laughing fit. Any time is great for me, cept the last week in June - that's my yearly boo fishing trip.
