Hey guys, I'd just like to thank the organisers for this awesome event, and to the other Deli heads who came along!

Nat and I had a ball, excellent breakfast and company, then a very impressive spread laid out by the guys at CVI. I've never, ever, come across a more accommodating workshop, and I'm looking forward to being able to take our van there... when we eventually get it!

Likewise, great to meet everyone and chat and check out respective Deli's. There are some very nice rigs out there. Also a big thanks to David (Delicat) for chauffering us today, it was excellent fun, as well as getting to hang out with Maceio too :-D

I have a couple of shots off our little camera, nothing special, but gives those who couldn't make it an idea of what went on at the Tomohawk at least.

Which one's not like the other? We intruded in on the Porsche club's monthly outing...

I also think this forum needs a "Previous Events" forum for photos and discussion of the days events... Hint hint, wink wink, Mark, hope you are reading this :M

Might see y'all at the next Deli Meat!

Thanks to all who turned out to the Double Delight Delica Day, what a terrific day.

The Tomohawk Restaurant portion had 12 Delica's, 22 Adults, 13 kids. After we scared off the poor porshe people, we had the patio area to ourselves, so we could all mingle and chat.

Then off to the CVI Spa. Trying to convoy Delica's in town is worse than herding cats, but we arrived, special thanks to the motorcycle escort of Pedro and Coaxial.

At CVI we were greeted with a barbeque, cold drinks, and Magnificent Mango Bars, baked by Marla the wife of Butch Mr CVI. Wow, spa treatment for Deli's and their owners. His family and kids ensured we were all cared for.

I think about 14 of us were at CVI (sorry forgot to count, too busy munching Mango Bars). Butch spent hours showing us under 2 deli's, and examples of 2 engines which had been removed, so we could see exactly where those timing belts go, and water pumps, and other hard to see bits. And then he dismantled injectors, showed how he tests them, and his unique sonic injector cleaner machine.

Pinkfingers got his "Delica Tune-up" done as well, so we could watch and learn that (his is the 1994 model, but 1993 manufacture year, and there is NO choke but a coolant governed valve, and thus a few things differed such as fuel injector model with higher psi.
Falco had his on the hoist as the example delica (a nice choice as his is always the cleanest). Erebus aka Ruminante had his hoisted to ensure no surprises in store for the trip from Calgary to Inuvik (detour via CVI), and will get his Delica Tune-up on Monday.

Kidwrecked with Delica and wife and Kids drove all the way from Cultus Lake. They have offered a Delica day there, offroading, then afterwards a bonfire on their large land space. Let's go soon !

Butch thanks for your patience ... We all learned so much, and we all feel so very guilty at neglecting the 11 grease point we should ALL be doing underneath, especially everytime we off road thru water . Time to organize a guilty greasing event ?

Edwin, Mechanic Extraordinaire, for bringing us examples, and answering so many questions.

Pinkfingers thanks for starting this event rolling.

Mark, "THE Mark" whose magnificent website this is that we all love.

Jay TardisDeli did the heat gun trick to some sad front and back black plastic bumper parts, so their owners would no longer be embarrased.

Laura Marsgal with Gumdrop. Jaz with his great Australian accent. Gary G-Man. Eric. I will stop listing names now, or this become the longest post ever. Great to meet everyone, what a fab day.

Christine and Jay, of the TardisDeli.

A great time was had by all. I really enjoyed the whole experience. Thanks to everyone who came and also to Christine for organizing the CVI part of the day. I was blown away when we showed up at CVI and saw a BBQ and all this food waiting for us. That was totally unexpected and so kind by the CVI folk. And Butch spent hours showing folks things to do about preventative maintenance and TLC for the Deli.

I remember: "If you don't do preventative maintenance, then it breaks and it becomes a repair, and that's more expensive."

Can't wait to see some more pictures.

I thought it was a great experience too, very informative and a BBQ, pop, mango bars etc to boot, never expected that.

I wish I could have stayed to see the injector and delitune part, but as I heard the "ahem," quick head nods, "don't you think it's time to go?" I realized the wife and kids were at their limit, so a quick stealthy departure was requred. Apologies for not saying good bye to all, but I didn't want to interupt Butch in the middle of explaining how to change a timing belt.

It was nice seeing you all and now I am looking forward to the next time you guys go for a drive so i can come too!

Take care all
Gary

We spent a lot of time underneath the two vans looking at differences; getting oriented to what happens with the various parts of the undercarriage. Well worth the time.... and the food was excellent!

WOW!! The CVI workshop must have been COOL!! I wish I could have been there. I may not be comfortable doing much wrenching on our bus, and I would never, ever attempt something like a timing belt change, but it is a huge advantage to understand (SEE) how these things work and how various operations are performed. Hey ccautos Glen, are you reading this thread...? :? Looks like a fun social gathering too, of course. Thanks for the pics! :M :-D

Would there be any interest in running a workshop meet one weekend for an island get together . I don`t mind opening up the workshop one weekend for a Delica `how to` day . If there is any interest and enough people to make it worth setting up (no charge) I could set something up for early-mid august . Let me know what dates work and who would be interested . Thanks , Glen

Depending on timing ~ I could get into that, Glen... I am starting a film on Monday which is pretty much going to eat up my weekdays for the next couple/few months, but I could leave on a Friday night and make it to Camp CC and be there for a Saturday morning...
See what transpires.

I would be tempted to hop over from the mainland as well, as I need to make a trip out that way soon anyways.

And a quick thanks to all for organizing this event from me. I'm in Smithers right now, about to hit the Cassiar. Deli is doing well, shifts much better thanks to Butch and Edwin.

Besides the Delica tuneup, I got new ProComp shocks and Energy Suspension bushings. By the way, if someone is desperate for shocks, and wants to avoid sticker shock (pun intended), my old shocks are still okay. I left them with TardisDeli, and if someone can't afford to pay for shocks, you can have them for free. Just contact Christine and Jay.

Next login probably from Whitehorse.

I found this thread doing some searching and understand it is incredibly old.

Has there ever been any CVI workshop days since this? I would love to come to some information sessions like this!
