DOUBLE Delica Day this Saturday (July 12)!!
There are two events going on this Saturday, July 12:
FIRST: Tomahawk Breakfast and Drive - 9:00am at the Tomahawk Restaurant in North Vancouver. Breakfast at 9am, convoy drive to follow. The drive was going to go through some open road to Squamish or somewhere like that, but instead we are going south to Richmond. Not much open road through downtown, I know (really sorry ) , but hopefully it will be worth it because of our destination, which is...
SECOND: CVI "field trip" - 12:00pm at CVI in Richmond. Butch is going to hoist a few Delicas and give all who are interested a guided tour of the machine and tips for maintenance and care. I believe Miss Li'l Bitchi is going up, as is the Jammy Dodger ('94 model with water cooled turbo and other differences), and perhaps one more.
Feel free to come to one or both. Butch is expecting around eight folks, so if there is going to be more, please state you're coming.
If people have the time and there's some open road nearby, perhaps we can drive after CVI? Or some can go to CVI and others to Squamish? I was really looking forward to driving to Squamish, but this was the best day possible for CVI. There should also be time to poke around the Delis after breakfast. Let me know your thoughts.
Confirmed for Tomahawk breakfast:
The Pinkfingers (one of them)
Delicat
Mark (plus family)
Patty
Falco
Jaz (riding with another driver)
sasquatch-hunter
lenny
marsgal42
zyand
erebus (possibly)

Confirmed for CVI:

Delicat (needs to find mud puddles )
g_man1972 and family (possibly)
marsgal42
Jaz (with another driver)
Erebus (possibly)

Howdy,
Put me, wife and two mighty curious kids as a definate maybe for CVI. Probably won't make it for breakfast although I have to check out that place, never heard of it but it's sure getting rave reviews. Will confirm later in the week.
Cheers Gary

Re: DOUBLE Delica Day this Saturday (July 12)!!
Count me in, on both counts. A field trip sounds like fun.
Squamish might have been iffy anyway. If the weather is good I will have first light on a new telescope Saturday night, and will need some preparation time. It's essentially a clone of this scope http://www.cloudynights.com/item.php?item_id=1731, made by Star Splitter. It just clears the ceiling in my apartment, and I have to take it outside in pieces, since, even without the truss tubes, it doesn't fit through any of the interior doors in my building.
I did a few upgrades on mine too: Argo Navis DSCs, a FeatherTouch focuser. The primary mirror weighs 20 kilos. The whole scope, over 100.

If Delicat is aok with us tagging along that far, then Nat and I (well, probably more "I") would be very interested in a trip to CVI.
Thanks for organizing this all y'all!

It's all good Jaz, will pick you up for breakfast and you can tag along to CVI...
With all the people confirmed for breakfast are we making a reservation? This place usually packs up pretty good and a line up is not uncommon... Silly question maybe but sometime we all rely on the next guys and... we end up in a line up!
I can already smell those homemade bacons!!!

We'll will now do our damndest to be at both. Erebus is pretty much ready, now just have to pack our own gear!
For details on the prep, see the Inuvik or bust by expedition Delica thread in Member Trips forum.
Delicat or fishslapper: any chance "my" skidplate can make it to the meet?
Erebus, son of Chaos. (also Terror's sister ship)

Re: DOUBLE Delica Day this Saturday (July 12)!!
Thanks Pinkfingers for enabling the "Double Deli Day'. I had organized the CVI Field Trip, then found the date conflicted, but with Falco brokering the deal, we now have The Double Delight Deli Day.
Tomohawk - NO reservations, nope, none. And they won't seat anyone till ALL the group is there. So... get your skates on, sleep in your deli in the parking lot if you're a late riser, we'll ensure you wake up.
CVI - Butch will focus on what maintenance we should be doing ... not just assume the CVI Spa Treatment is good for another 15 years. Fascinatiing poking under the Deli's Belly.
Road Trip - If we have time after CVI, we found a secret ssshhh 4wd road above Porteau Cove. If we don't manage it this day, I will schedule for next weekend.
Special Guests - Erebus (The Deli Driver formerly known as Ruminante) and partner Leslie will travel the farthest just for the Tomohawk Bacon, all the way from Calgary. They'll be staying at the TardisDeli Hotel.
See everyone this Saturday.
Christine and Jay of the TardisDeli.

Re: DOUBLE Delica Day this Saturday (July 12)!!
Lol. I don't think I enabled anything, but you're welcome. Originally CVI was planned for 9am or 10:30am, both of which were in conflict with the Tomahawk. But when Falco suggested 12pm, bingo - it worked out great.

Re: DOUBLE Delica Day this Saturday (July 12)!!
Hi,
Just joined up and wondering if I could join in on the CVI portion of poking around and learning more about the Deli's?Also if someone would be so kind as to provide directions from North Van that would be great.
Thanks,
Eric

Re: DOUBLE Delica Day this Saturday (July 12)!!
I don't have directions (lots of others do though), but there are a few from North Van going (including me), so you would be welcome to get a ride from the Tomahawk, if you so desire.Skidplate wrote:Hi,
