Anyone in red have an idea yet? I'll PM people personally within the week if I haven't heard, but I'd rather not go through the trouble.

What time are we planning on stumbling out Sat. morning. I might not be able to make Fri. so I'm hoping an 11 or 12 start on Sat. would give the rest of the stragglers enough time. Any thoughts?

We officially have Weaver Lake for the Friday.

Post by delicanuck »

Howdy all,
We officially have the use of Weaver Lake campgrounds for the Friday night. Look here:
http://www.for.gov.bc.ca/dck/Recreation ... VER%20LAKE
If we found the road north impassible, ( or we were too hung over, lazy, comfortable to drive ) we could have the place for Saturday night too. We will have exclusive use of the campground however there is a day use area which will be open to the public, mostly worm drowners. We will also have the key, so although we can't leave the gate open, you absolutely can arrive in the middle of the night, ( turn of the high beams ). The campground costs $10.00 per vehicle. I will pay for all of us in advance so everyone be prepared to cough up $10.00 (cash, not 2 1/2 beers) when you arrive. Please update this thread if you know you can come for the Friday night. If however, it gets to be 8:00 p.m. Friday and your all loaded and ready to go but you're not signed up for Friday, come anyways! We've got the whole campground. There are 23 campsites, maximum 2 cars per site... I think we'd all fit.

Mitch probably has a better estimate than I do but I would guess that it would be about 4 - 5 hours of easy driving from Weaver Lake to Sloquet Creek, God willin' and the crick don't rise, as it were, so maybe we would want to think about heading out shortly after lunch at the lake, giving all the late starters a chance to catch up without arriving already half frazzled?

Does anyone have a VHF transciever? It would be nice to be able to talk on the LAD3 channel, somewhere in the 152Mhz range.

Post questions here or PM me. I don't know what the cell coverage will be like at the lake but just in case, I'm at 604 817-4821. I'll also monitor the LAD3 channel but can't talk back, I only have a scanner... Hmmmm. I'll think about that a bit.

What did I forget?

Thanks for all the hard work Brett, and the beer last week.

It would be great if mitch could chime in on whether leaving after lunch is doable for anyone coming from afar in the morning.

See you all rather soon

im thinking you dont want to wait till after lunch to leave... we'll have alot of people to move and some great stops (including lunch) before getting there. I should build some sort of markers in addition to a map for straglers or if anyone falls of the back, but lets not dilly-dally on getting going satarday morning and everyone should be there packed up and ready to roll by lets say 10am. remember we still dont have the luxury of full daylight.

just my opinion.

I like the sound of taillights at 10am.

I really don't know so i'd like to go with what you think is best.

I think 10 is fair. It will be a good adventure.
