I like it, any objections?

Hey Adrock,

My thoughts would be to meet in or around Harrison friday night for a departure early saturday morning.. then even the latest of people could still make the saturday start.

The road dos'nt start in harrison but back about 30km towards vancouver (access to Hemlock mnt) there is a pub at the start of the road(hwy 7 just east of harrison river) we would all meet at say 8-9am ??

there is a lk front area there that im sure friday nighters could camp at or spend some bucks and stay at the resort in harrison (anywhere between $60-$200 off-season)

We would have about a 100km dirt road to the 1st springs (sloquet) I know there is some 4x4 access off this road, but have never explored.. anyone who wants to do some research on that would be great (4x4 maps??) there is an semi abondoned logging camp we roll thru thats worth exploring and plenty of cut-block roads then camp at the less busy smaller sloquet springs versus the busy skoocumchuck that we can go by for a lunch stop dip the next day for free (they charge $10 a vehical and $5 person to camp) not that im that cheap, but latley have bairly been able to fit in the tubs and with a group this big it could be impossible.

We would exit sunday at the bottom of the duffy lk road climbing out og pemby.. it is a perfect exit for Josh and James types to leave back north and everyone else can go at there own pace back thru whistler / squamish / vancouver/ ferries etc.....

more ideas?

I really like the sound of that, seems like you have a great handle on what is possible and what the good and bad ideas are.

I'll pm you with some more questions.

Do we have a member who's been there lately?

Post by delicanuck »

Hi Gang,
I would like to tentatively pencil myself in for some portion of this adventure, if not all of it but I have a rather full plate these days. I'm not optimistic about me being able to make the Harrison-Lilloet connection but I'd like to meet up with everyone in Pemby at least.
A couple of things I'm curious about though; Has anyone been out to Skookumchuck lately? I was in there a couple of years ago and it was gated. Being a Forest Service rec site, it wouldn't open until May 1st. Has that changed?
Also, I haven't been to Sloquet creek in a few years either but its not on a Forest service road but rather, a BC Hydro concession road. BC Hydro hasn't used the road since the late 70s so they are not maintaining it. Is someone else? If not, it might be a little snow bound and its a pretty good hike from the Forest Service road to the springs in summer. In the snow... well bring your snowshoes just in case. And there's that ford, just above the waterfall. Getting that crossing wrong on ice would make an ugly Kodak Moment. I last crossed the Sloquet in July and the water was about 28 inches deep. We left one car behind. Has anyone been up there in winter?
Once you, (we?) all get to Pemberton, what's the rally point there? Owl and Spetch creek are closed until May as is Nairn Falls. Same story up along the Hurley. Meager creek is just plain closed ubtil further notice, last I heard. Can you camp along the Lilloet river Forest Service Main the same way you can along Squamish or Cheakamus? If not, do we have a member in that area who could ask around the private sites and see if someone would give us an off season rate?

Hey delicanuck,

sloquet and skookumchuck are open and snow shouldn't be an issue at either... altough I have heard things are changing at skookumchuck as far as ownership (it is private land) thats why I wanted to stay at sloquet.. the walk is no farther then a few minutes between camp and springs (headlamps or flashlights are a must)

Hopefully you can make it for that part of the trip.. the trip is probably over for me on sunday in pemby as soon as i hit pavment I'll head home.. not to say others cant stay and do stuff sunday- monday??

Im putting together a schedule as accurate as i can for Adrock... stay tuned..

Hey everybody,

I just bought my new delica.... stoked. Looks like you guys have the makings for a pretty rad trip coming up and me and my wife think it sounds awesome. So if noone objects, we'd love to join you!

We'll be doing our first trip with the van out to Nakusp next week where we're helping my father in law build a cottage... There's tons of snow in Revelstoke so it'll be the perfect chance to get out there in the new ride and shred some pow at the same time!

Hi again gang,
I think I'm going to be able to make the trip. It seems to me like the big thing about this meeting will be the meeting part. The drive will be good but we might not have an opportunity to meet very often as a group so I'd like to find a way to allow more time to stand around and exchange beers and BS. Could we get a head count of how many people will be able to take the Friday off? If that were many or all of us, maybe we could arrange to get the key to Twenty Mile Bay campsite and we could meet on Friday afternoon rather than Saturday morning. It would give us a long Friday evening to liquor-up and slow lazy Saturday morning recover while we wait for late-comers to catch up. I haven't talked to anyone at the Douglas band office yet but I think 20Mile is $10.00 a night/party, plus a deposit. ( I can look after the deposit. )

I like the way you think Brett, why do all the driving if we dont have time to hang out right? It'll be a blast no matter how we do this!

How about Weaver Lake on Friday Night

Post by delicanuck »

Hi folks,
We officially have the okee dokee to use Weaver Lake campgrounds on Friday night if we want to. Look here:

http://www.bcadventure.com/adventure/ex ... weaver.htm

This campsite may be better than 20 Mile because its closer to the main road and so, easier for Saturday Morning starters to catch up with the Friday Nighthawks. Its also a pretty nice spot to have all to our selves. If I'm going to reserve the campsite, I'll need to know pretty soon, (this month would be nice) how many vehicles to expect. The cost would be $10.00 per vehicle. Can we start a process to find out who wants to start DeliFest 2007 at Weaver Lake on Friday afternoon March 30th. ? Maybe just add that factoid to your post in the attendee list thread here:
viewtopic.php?t=205
I think I'll need a vehicle count before about the 5th. of March at the latest.

So Sad to Miss the Meet...

Post by jeremy »

Hey Guys, Jer here from Sunny Squamish. I'm so bummed that I can't make the meet, it sounds like an amazing time. Got to work and can't get the time off. If you guys take some good pics of all the cool trucks, the people and the scenery can you put them up on the site? I'd love to see some. Boy, I wish it would stop raining so I could tackle the leaks in my footwells...Jer

Hi guys/gals, we're going to catch the 7pm on Fri, so will be heading up the sea to sky around 9. Late into Pemby, but I've a relative there, so will likely meet at the Pony Espresso on Sat before heading off to Sloquet. Pete. (P.S. we're dogless now)
