All Japanese Classic

Post by TieMyShoe »

2016 All Japanese Classic - August 28th - Waterfront Park

We are back, and this year more inclusive than ever.
Late last year it was decided to combine the All Japanese Car Show and the All Nissan Meet moving forward to create the All Japanese Classic. This combines the greater field of Classic Japanese cars, bikes and trucks with a venue that much better suits the event.

I'd like to welcome the Annual All Japanese Classic show back to Waterfront Park in North Vancouver, a beautiful and well situated setting. It's easy to find, has many facilities and a stunning view across the Burrard Inlet with the downtown City of Vancouver as the backdrop on the other side of the harbor. Shopping and food aplenty can be had right next door at the Lonsdale Quay, as is access from the Seabus. Many of you will recall that the All Nissan Meet was held at this location from 1998 to 2011. We are happy to be back on the grass and in a venue that will hold a significantly greater number of cars.

$5 off registration for the month of May. We are limited to 200 cars, and judging by the initial response we are likely to reach this goal. The feedback already much greater than expected and Pre-Registration is already rolling in.

Check out the discussion on the All Japanese Classic Facebook page which has been going for a few months now, getting the show all ready to roll out.

On the event day, and due to the one way road with a blind corner access into the park on the Spirit Trail (around the south end of the BCIT Marine Campus), early departures MUST be cleared with an official event organizer prior to moving your car out of the show area AND you must have an escort the whole way out of the park due to safety concerns. The city has requested this of us, we must comply as these are conditions of the park use. Event organizers will be easy to spot, we'll be wearing bright shirts - James promises us we will stand out. And we have radios which is key. Departures will be allowed on the hour only.

I've been trying to contact these guys for the last couple of weeks. 400 West Esplanade doesn't exist, there's no phone number, the e-mail doesn't seen to work. I'm looking forward to entering my wagon ~ is there a contact number? I deal in cash.

Show was a huge success, we had just over 220 vehicles and about a dozen classic bikes show up. Falco and myself were the only Delis to show up but we did our best to rep Delica.ca well. Hopefully next year we can roll in with a few more Delis.

thanks for comin out Falco!

Thanks for posting, TMS ~ You've reminded me to post any one of the pictures that I took that day (been a little busy of late). Apart from the two best looking Japanese vehicles there that day, I saw some wicked looking machines, including a couple of exemplary Skylines, not to mention all the Datsuns and Hondas ~ and what's with all the rusty Mazdas? Right behind the front right wheel well every time. I'll post some pix in the next couple of days.

Right, where were we? Ah yes, the pictures. Firstly, the two stars of the show:

The cameo appearances:

And the rest of the usual suspects:

It was an awesome show. I drove down Lonsdale Avenue at around 07:45 and where the various breakfast spots were located there were all these 510s, 240s, &c., parked outside and when I got to the venue (Waterfront Park) ~ I basically merged with the queue that wound like a serpent into Mosquito Creek Marina entrance and around over the tracks and through the pavement that wraps the outside perimeter of the BCIT marine campus and up onto the sward, where in the middle was a small pavilion where the PA/audio was set up. There was one corner of Honda Civics, primarily 70s, some restored, some tricked out. Same with the Datsuns. Some 510s were immaculately restored, some had Nissan twin turbo V6s dropped into them.

I would highly recommend more Delicas for the next AJC auto show. It's only $20 admission and if you're early enough it's $15, not bad to join a Concours d'Elégance ~ we should dominate the truck category next time and make our mark.
