Whipsaw Aug 2013

Post by pajerry »

Hello everyone,

I am heading out to the whipsaw this weekend and wanted to invite any adventurous members to join me. I will be staying in manning park Aug 22nd over night, then heading for the trail after a good breakfast on Friday morning. I'll be staying over night Friday, and either heading back to Vancouver Saturday, or making another stop over night until Sunday. We will then cut across to the Coquahala hwy from Princeton and head back home that way.

If anyone is interested, give me a call or txt at 604-600-8292 and I will give more details. I already have a larger camping space booked Thursday night in Manning Park, so there's room for a couple tents or just sleep in your van/truck.

Thanks, hope to see some of you out there.

It went well. Was supposed to be three vehicles but the others had to bail. We just ran it solo. It was much rougher than a couple years ago, but a bit more moisture which kept the dust down. It was great to be the only people up there the Friday with Wells Lake campground to ourselves. Only ran into one other group doing their annual run on the way out the next day.

Wells Lake is a mess though, bring garbage bags, if you do go... I managed to fill two bags with trash and empties, and there was still lots. Also, yeehaws seem to like to drive over or cut down all the smaller tree's, so its starting to look like a parking lot. Bring your own firewood.

I don't know if I'll have time to hit it up again this season but I'll let you know if I do. If you're still into it, the 4wdabc is having an open invite run in Sept. There will probably be lots of trucks, possibly splitting into a few groups. I'll keep you in mind for future wheeling.
