How the meets work.

Post by Adrock »

I am writing this because it seems as though some people believe there is some almighty force that decides when and where meets are happening and that they are just simple delica owners who would love to attend if one were scheduled on a convenient date in their area. This is not the case as many of you know. The first meet we really had was sort of organized by me, but guess what, i'm a 20 year old guy, i'm not an event planner, nor an organizer, you should see the inside of my van, i'm far from anything organized. My point is, if you have a delica, and want to meet up with other owners, it all starts with an idea.

First, find one other person who is reasonably close that you would like to meet up with, talk to them, ask them if they'd like to meet, then ask if they'd like to invite others as well (who wouldn't)

Next, post it. Let everyone know where you'll be and when, give choices or ask for suggestions if thats more your style.

Then, give some final details, who, what, where, when, how to get there. Make it official so people don't back out because it feels disorganized.

Finally, SHOW UP. thats it, you'll have a blast, meet awesome people, have a few drinks, eat, go 4 wheeling if desired, have some more drinks, camp, talk, fish, eat fish, install wvo systems, break gate locks, drink, eat, sit in hot springs, fell trees, drink, eat and well, you get the idea. Do whatever you want, delica owners are one of a kind. A lot of common interests have brought people to taking the leap of faith of buying these vans, meet a few people and you'll see, its hard not to like someone with a deli.

Good luck, and just do it. You've got nothing to lose, you'll have fun alone, if one person shows up great, you'll have fun together, if more show up, cool, the more the merrier, but remember, just you and your van can have a great time, so don't rely on anyone else to get out there and use it.

definitely agree, once mine arrives, I'm going to try to get out on some get togethers and wheeling missions (not to be confused with whaling missions, well, maybe) as often as possible.

What's your thoughts on Pajero's...? Are you Deli drivers a clicky group or can you appreciate other Mitsubishi 4x4 RDH's? Just wondering so I don't show up uninvited to a meet and get booed out of the lot :)

To be quite honest, Liam ~ we've even been known to let the odd Nissan Safari in but don't tell too many people about it, the neighbourhood is bad enough as it is... smiles.

Just don't mention the Toyota drivers. We mentioned it once, but we think we got away with it!

Funny how nobody complains when that odd Nissan Safari is towing a pure breed Delica out of a mud hole... 8-)

Hi LeeHammy, and all Pajero owners - WE LOVE YOU Pajero GUYS. Come on along, join us.

Pajero's are Mitsubishi, so you are equally entitled to wear the Mitsu Maple.

Some Pajero's have the same 4D54 engine as the Delica L300.

Pajero's have some really cool features (the built in tool box, the tow hitch platform).

I just can't figure out how to fit as much camping crap into a Pajero as in my L300, but some people say I overpack anyway (hey, when the shit hits the fan, I'm ready).

See you at the next Mitsu Meet.

Cheers, Christine.

Well I am interested, I live in Duncan if you drive the malahat or drive through duncan and see a L300 with a full size roof rack that's me. I also wave at every deli.
I am a diesel/commercial transport mechanic and if anyone needs a hand or advice I will help as much as I can :-)
