The Mystery Machine

Post by Mystery Machine »

These are some shots that I took recently when the car was filthy, the weather was dreadful and all were taken on a cheap 'everyday' digital camera...but I was pleased with the results!

Here is one of my all time fave shots (a genuine 'snap the moment' shot) which was then muted in photoshop - nothing more! Now chosen as my sif pic (as you can plainly see....)

Image

Notice the back part of the front fender flare (wheel arch in the UK!) is missing! The proof that 33" tyres are the max on an 8" lift despite my desire to run 35's! (had to brake HARD for a fool who couldn't drive.....the resulting nosedive saw the arches hit the tyre and I never found the remains!)

I've seen your deli on the UK site.. easily the nicest delica I've ever seen. With a ton of money I'd do the same things to mine.

Oh - trust me its even filthier now! (the last time it was washed was October 2006!!!!)

I'm due to give it some much needed TLC sometime to make it shine again.....for some reason, the distance shots make it look a lot cleaner than it really is!

Here are some shots I took over a year ago when it wasn't filthy (just after I last washed it in fact) Some of the guys will have seen these on the UK site - along with the above shots - but some of you may not have seen them?

I'm hoping to try and raise some cash this year to buy a decent camera (all these shots were taken on a cheap 2nd hand sony 'standard') and then I can start learning to take some pro looking shots like Coaxial/Kuan and the other guys on here.....I don't want anything fancy - just something I can have a bit more control over.....

NICE EYE! Lovin' the urban flavour of the pix and the depiction of hushed aggressiveness. 8-)

When my Deli grows up, it wants to be like the Mystery Machine.

Mate,
I would be inclined to call that "dusty". But I must say that I like the way you look after your ship. I have just bought a Chamonix and am getting her in Bristol fashion. She was sitting in a field for a while in Japan, I suspect, as I keep pulling out dried bits of morning glory every time I crawl under her. I have a question for you: What kind (& brand) of wax do you use on your carriage to get it like in the "just after the wash" pics? I live in British Columbia, Canada and they like to use salt on the roads here, and this being the first vehicle that I have spent more than a monkey on ~ I find myself washing her often... smiles.
Falco.

Hi Falco, believe it or not, I've never waxed it! I simply give it a wash and dry (with an artificial chamois) It always seems to come up nice & shiny!

We get a lot of salt in the UK too - it kills alloys and makes the paint all dull. I don't wash mine that often...in fact it was October 2006 when I last washed it! I think when the weather gets a bit better I'll treat it to another bucket of the soapy stuff and give it a dry.....
