no more blood for oil!
that should brand me nicely!
hi! im after oil, male, age 36, residing near powell river, BC.
heres my 1993/2 chamonix, still in japan, en route to yokohama:
(click for bigger)
and a 1993/3 jasper for my father-in-law:
we are so stoked!!!!
my wife and i got a small farm, but i consider myself a micro-producer rather than a
farmer. that is to say we sometimes have produce for sale, and always eggs, but i leave
myself lots of time for other pursuits as well. im into backpacking, mountaineering,
snowshoing and other outdoor adventure. my wife is a fibre artist, she spins wool into
yarn. also i have a passion for music. im a DJ and i spin mostly REGGAE!!!!! but i do get
into afrobeat and some electronica as well. i got a radio show on community radio ive
been doing over 3 years. im involved in my local community with positive change
towards sustainability and food security, as well as transportation solutions and
altertnative energy.
im super conflicted about this whole driving/combustion engine thing. i think we all
should get out of our cars and walk or ride more. but im also realisitic and in the
present as much as possible. so i drive.
for someone not too stoked on car cutlure (well, "conflicted," to say the least) i got a few
autos. presently my main road vehicle is a 1987 Nissan D21 pickup w/ SD25 diesel motor.
im running on WVO with a heat exchanger from slavko in Campell River.
i also have a 1980 VW rabbit diesel that i intend to convert to WVO. its a great runner
and ill sell it so there can be another WVO driver on the road.
my 3rd vehicle is a 1989 GMC tracker 4x4. it runs on blood petrol, er gasoline. thats what
gets me to the mountains for adventures. ill sell that as soon as my chamonix is on the
road. but im keeping the truck...
as a do-it-yourselfer i have managed to gain some mechanical experience. im not that
good, and it may be costing me more to learn than to pay a mechanic!
i hope that i can contribute lots here to the community. ive already learned tons by
reading the forum like a book.
peace!

runs okay. a little rough in idle. the rad is caked with calcium. the under carriage is clean. the tires are bald.
whoever drove it from osaka to yokohama left some delicious sweetened french fry snack, half eaten, in the van. there was also a tasty looking rice ball. i didnt sample it b/c i dont eat meat. bcdelica was with me, and another friend, too timid both of them to try some delicious japanese snack food.
ill work on compliance asap and wvo conversion pretty soon.

Re: no more blood for oil!
Too timid, someone had to be able to take care of any food poisoning victims. LOL
Tis a sweet van, though it needs its timing tuned it's hard to find any rust on the underside of it. Newer shocks under there too. Fun day; it's nice being excited about things Delica again and seeing two new Delica fans onboard.
Cheers

no more blood for oil!
It's been ten years since that first post! Still driving the pop top L300 i got from jfarsang, and my old Chamonix is still on the road, currently living in Revelstoke.
I'm still in Powell River. It's time for me to go L400 I think.
Cheers!
