Hello all, really happy to have found this gem of a site. Hopefully I can be useful to it.

New to me is a 1998 Mitsubishi P25 camper. I’m learning here but it has a truck chassis, a L300 2.5 litre turbo with no intercooler and a L200 front end.

Parts for the truck chassis are a bit tricky. Spent a few hundred on an idler arm and had to match up some new shocks so far.

It has 90,000kms and is in good overall shape. Timing belt, water pump and seals done. Glow plugs resistance from bar to body was 3.5 ohms with key off, which is too high especially in my colder weather, so I ordered new ones and injectors as well.

I read in another introduction the recommendation to go to synthetics. I’ve yet to change any fluids and would really appreciate some wisdom on what to use to keep her healthy.

Congrats! Sounds like a neat rig. I changed the whole driveline to synthetic 80w90. It is a messy job, a suction gun is a must. I always open the top plug first, don't drain the oil out before you know you can put oil in. Japanese vehicles don't usually have a lot of rust but it is a good procedure to follow. You will notice a difference when it gets below zero and these fluids should be changed periodically anyway so it's a worthwhile.

Thank you Ralph! Suction gun is on the list for my next princess auto trip. Synthetic in the drive train makes sense to me. Chevron or Esso conventional oil is the recommend for the engine I saw on wiki. Any comments on that? I’d like to use the Shell stuff because of the price at Costco but am all ears as to why I should get the other stuff.

New fuel injectors last night made her run and start much smoother.

I use the synthetic 80w90 gear oil in the driveline of all my vehicles. I use conventional 15w40 in the summer in the Strada and the Townace. The Townace gets 0w40 or 5w40 for the winter. I usually buy the Motomaster brand oils at Canadian Tire, I don't really think there is much difference between brands of oil.
