Hello! I’m looking into buying Delica in Victoria. My partner and I did test drive@CCA last week. We really like everything about it. We would love to buy L400 if we are able to buy it under $12,000. We are not able to afford expensive repair cost with our tight budget. How much do you pay for maintenance every year? Is it better to get Diesel for a long run??? Looking forward to hearing good feedback from the Delica experts :-D

If your wanting to save in costs, then a gasser is the way to go. Diesels are a little more expensive maintenance wise, simply because parts cost more $$. I think I'm somewhere around 5k this year alone on my diesel, and not done yet.

Whereas from my understanding, you can get some parts for a gas engine locally. However I haven't had the pleasure of figuring that out yet.

Best of luck on your search!
Peter

Diesels only make fìnancial sense if you're driving a lot of kilometers pulling a trailer or with a heavy load. Diesel vehicles have more expensive filters and oil and diesel is no longer cheaper than gas. The only way I can justify owning two diesel trucks is that for the most part my fuel is free since I run them on WMO. Most diesel owners are willing to pay the premium to say they own a diesel, to leave it loudly idling unnecessarily, to "roll coal" (I despise them) and so on.

That being said, I really love my trucks, they're weird, efficient, quirky and probably cost me more than something I could buy locally if I'm being honest. So I'm in the first group, I'm willing to pay the premium to have a rhd diesel.

For most people, if you really crunch the numbers diesels don't make sense.

I would only buy a diesel. Better resale value, better everything.... maybe not starting in the cold😉

Thank you all for your advice!
I think I am going with diesel!
Our friend’s friend is selling her ‘92 Starwagon/diesel so we may buy it from her.
We would love to have the Spacegear’s “fold up rear seats” but the price we have to pay for the diesel one is too pricy for us. Maybe save up money and buy the Spacegear in a few years.
