Contest: "Name the Delica"
Good day,
"my name is Stephanie and I own a Delica". I am new here and I am grateful to have been able to use this forum to make an educated buy...The Delica that we bought is a 1991 L300 with 160,000 km.
Because this is our first Delica, because it has a lot of character, it seems to have its own personality and especially because we expect to have to take really good care of her, we have decided to give her her own unique name.
I would like to start my contributions to this forum with a "name the Delica" contest kickoff. What should you think this beast should be named?

Re: Contest: "Name the Delica"
Hi Stephanie!
From your picture, given that's the best color Delica (I had one once, hopefully again), first name that came to me is 'Dusty'.
My daughter had suggested the name 'Ash', for mine, as it is charcoal colored.
Maybe tell us more about yourself to help the name game?

I am a "Quebecoise" from Quebec City, relocated for work to Victoria 10 years ago when I bought my first new car a Jetta TDI. 10 years (and two kids) later, I started looking for a way to camp off the ground and started looking for a....eurovan westfalia.
1-my parents in Quebec thought I was crazy to buy such an "old" vehicle (they have a VW rialta...)
2-I had a brief look at their price/mileage ratio and was floored
3-I needed something more versatile and not drive a kitchen around town: I already have a stove and cooler, that's enough for me
This is when my husband said: why don't you look up these cool looking bad ass vans (we didn't know the name!!!) but I knew exactly what he was talking about. This is when, two weeks ago my internet journey to the Delica started..... It seems to have all that we need: diesel like the (now gone: snif, snif) jetta, big seven seated to fit all the cousins and configured any possible way to be able to sleep in it - we saw a lot of creative sleeping arrangements......
Ok I am looking forward to hearing from you all. Eventually I would like to meet with any of you on the island who do their own basic maintenance to learn how to do it myself.
Don't forget the contest "name the Delica"!!!

I know these Starwagons, have you asked your wagon what her name is? She'll probably tell you, so long as you listen closely enough.

Back to the contest... I have a lots of friends, organised in different circles (i hope you understand what i mean, best friend, friends, buddys, boys, girls, beauty queens, etc...)
Of course all of them loves my Deli, but they gave different names for her, like:
- Mitsu (by most of them)
- Beast (by my father)
- PIMP (by class mates at the uni)
- PIP (by a cute girl who cant pronounce the PIMP word)
- Feddy (best friends) because my number plate is FED-77....
- Fedde Le Grand (by lawyer girls)
- L300.000 (el'threehundredtousand) (by me when im the proudest guy on the planet)
- etc...

Hahaha!!!!
I tried to ask her but she still only speaks Japanese.... I guess it's harder to learn a new language after you break the 15 years old...
Lots of great suggestions. I really like Mitsu but with a twist... Mitsou like our singer from the nineties (Bye bye, mon cowboy). Is it too common of a name? It's ok I like to keep it simple. Maybe "Da Mitsou". Like: "mom, where is my sweater? - you left it in Da Mitsou"....

Call it Rosie, if anyone gets that film reference its worth 5 points.
Some folks call mine Jasper, but then it is plastered all over the side.

Re: Contest: "Name the Delica"
Well, when I asked mine she said: "Misu Komusume", the little princess that she is.
So I translated it to English: "Miss Little Troublesome Daughter"... I had to rethink it a little.
Falco.
P.S.: Yojimbo: Are you referring to "The Jetsons"?
