New here, questions about modifying seatbelts

Hi,

I just have a few questions. Not sure which subforum is most appropriate. Probably this will have to be moved and I apologize. :-/

I did a search for information about the installation of a child restraint (car seat) and see that many members mod the seatbelt either partially or completely.

Can anyone tell me why this is? Why not just use the factory installed seatbelt?


Thanks for any insight on this. (I'm guessing the reason is because you want to be able to shift your captains chairs back and forth, etc, but since I'm just not sure I thought I would ask.)
