On the weekend I finished painting/drawing Moon Unit's body... and last night I finished clear-coating her with a protective finish. Check her out:

I did the art with black sharpies.

2" lift kit by Farsang, installed by CVI.

Roof rack by Enviroimports

Next week, or whenever, I'll start on the roof... :)

Yeah, I'm still riding the sharpie high... it has been a lot of fun to do this project. I met so many people, esp. my neighbors and people in the vicinity, from being out there most evenings drawing away. I've had a few requests to do other vehicles and perhaps that's what I'll end up doing for a while. I just quit my job so as of January I won't be parking near the base anymore. :) Going to take it easy and just be an artist - at least for a while. Interesting what you said about tattoos - met a tattoo artist the other day who called it a tattooed van!

Curious though if Frank Zappa was a influence in your vans name?

Spot on! Moon Unit looks amazing! I would hazard a guess that the artwork may have been slightly influenced by Mr. Zappa as well! Best of luck with your artwork.

Yes, the name originates from Frank Zappa... the van had some kind of moon-buggy space feel and the name just kind of came to me. I wouldn't say it is directly influenced by Frank Zappa (bless his groovy soul) though.

Kinda cool how there are so many Deli drivers in Vic... any talk of an Island meet-up sometime soon?
