Issues with IBC and RORO container

Post by jessef »

Well,

The Paj is sold to a nice fellow from the interior.

In the meantime, my Delica is on it's way. :-D

Things are good.

Here's a list of what I'll be doing to it as soon as it lands :

For the inspection:

Raybestos brakes (twin piston) all around
DRL's / bulbs, etc...

The week after the inspection:

2 deep cycle batteries
Check LSD diff in the rear for play
Diffs/Tranny/Engine/oil's/filters replaced
Superwinch manual hubs on the fronts
Timing/water pump/pulleys/belts, etc...
Delica 'special' tuneup
Seal the front seams

3-4" lift
30/31" Procomp AT's
Flares
Replace shocks RS9000's

Fabricate armor for underneath the entire Delica front to rear
Swappable winch mount front/rear

Tint windows

Last but not least, fab a good full length/width roof rack.

I'm more looking forward to the work on it as opposed to the Deli itself. How bad does that sound !?!? :-D

How tall is your underground parkade? With a 3"-4" lift, that'll put your Delica at about 7'3". (mine sits at about 6'11" without a lift)

Delica will not be in the underground parkade.

We sold out condo and the Pajero over the weekend.

It's all part of the plan for our trip later this year. :-)

Would like to update you guys on my short IBC experience :

http://www.ivoac.ca/pn/index.php?name=P ... pic&t=1518

http://www.4x4wire.com/forums/showflat. ... 14&fpart=1

Car Cost ¥ 293,000
IBC Export Charges ¥ 95,000
Freight + Export M3~15.824 ¥ 153,000
Distant Transport: ¥ 8,500

Total: ¥ 549,000
Total CIF Cost
in Japanese Yen ¥ 549,000

Then when I asked about container shipping, they sent this email :

"Dear Jesse,

Good day!

Please be informed that RORO shipment to New Westminster is not available up to this moment, our option is to ship units in a container [FCL-Full Container Load] to Vancouver, Canada. If you wish to ship the above unit in a container there is an additional amount which you need to pay and that is USD 1,515-Vancouver.

We are still sorting the process of CY-CFS shipment mode. If you want to ship your unit in a FCL shipment with one BL issued and pay the additional cost, shipment will be available as full container shipment is regular to Canada.

Let us know if you will proceed in shipping your unit in a container for us to arrange shipment accordingly.

Kind Regards,
*** OMITTED ****
CSC Shipping"

No RORO. That's obvious.

But how will they ship via container ... does my original price CIF NW include multiple/cargo container shipping ?

I have to get on the horn with them tonight and figure this out.

I stopped my wire transfer (thank god) in time.

They have my 1,000 deposit which visa is in the process of reversing when I get back to them to confirm.

I'll keep you guys posted.

So in a nutshell, here it is :

1. They have a total amount CIF to New West. I asked if it's container, rep said YES.

2. They say on their site and CSR rep's that RORO is not available, period. That container shipping is the only shipping they do to Canada.

3. Latest batch of emails state that the original CIF price was for RORO, yet RORO is not an option.

4. To ship via container, it's an additional $1,500USD + at least.

This is bad news.

I hope others pick up on this.

And they failed to disclose some vehicle damage as well.

This is an example.

According the auction sheet and their surveyor's report, this side is clean as a whistle.

Well, a week later and some more pictures, it's not so clean ... apparently it was scraped nicely along the whole length of the Delica.

I've imported 4 vehicles total over the past 2 years and have always had good experiences.

This one, not so much.

If anyone is considering buying from IBC, I strongly recommend to look at alternatives as the more involved I get with their customer service/manager's/email's,etc... it's looking bleaker.

Only good thing to come out of this short experience is the fact that I'm able to recoup my costs and pass on the info/experience to others.

I'm surprised at the few responses :? There's 4 other guys I know importing Delica's with IBC and having a rough go at it.

Anyways, I ended up going with a nice base Chamonix edition from AutoRec with whom I've dealt with before.

Shipping out in 2 weeks confirmed. I should have gone this route earlier.

I plan on doing the same mod's to it as the white Marshmellow was going to have done for excursion/travelling.

Here she is ready to go. :-)

As this thread is under "new member introductions", maybe you could re-post this stuff in it's own thread under the "importing" section, so that people using this forum to do research on who to use for importing would be more likely to find it?

The week after the inspection:

2 deep cycle batteries
Check LSD diff in the rear for play
Diffs/Tranny/Engine/oil's/filters replaced
Superwinch manual hubs on the fronts
Timing/water pump/pulleys/belts, etc...

Flares
Replace shocks RS9000's

Fabricate armor for underneath the entire Delica front to rear
Swappable winch mount front/rear

Tint windows

Last but not least, fab a good full length/width roof rack.
But there's no WVO conversion in there?

Cheers

We are pleased to inform you that the vehicle(s) you purchased will be shipped onboard Green Cove (KS) V.63 estimated to depart Japan this 4/20/2008. Please confirm that the following unit(s) will be consigned to:

Must have said the right things. I went from a CRS to accounts manager to the shipping manager and back and forth.

Now I have 2 Delica's coming in. :-) :M

Dear Jeff:

I am a licensed customs broker and a freight forwarder here in Vancouver. Our customers import quite a few Delicas and RO/RO space is available. However, you as an individual may not be able to get the space from this company called CSC Shipping.

If you have any questions, feel free to e-mail me at perry@canaantransport.com
