Alberta WVO?

Post by Rattlenbang »

Hey all, my kids are heading out on a road trip in my Delica in a few weeks, from Victoria to Calgary. Anyone know a source for good WVO in Alberta, especially Calgary? They can pay.
My new novel A Dark and Promised Land has just been released by Dundurn Press. "On the eve of war he is compelled to reclaim her love, setting himself against his people amid a conflict that will form a nation." http://www.darkpromisedland.com/

The plant drive rep in Canmore has told me that he's happy to sell clean oil, but that was about two years ago, so I'm not sure if that has changed. I found him through plantdrive's website, his first name is Torie, I think. Not sure if that helps but I hope so.

Thanks I'll check that out. I've been on contact with Ed from Salmon arm and he didn't mention this fellow. hope he's still in business. Sure wish there was a "registry" of folks out there willing to sell/give WVO to travelers.

I might be able to help you in New Westminster, Revelstoke, Calgary or Edmonton. I've contacted them on your behalf and waiting to hear back.

Thanks! That would be great. Wish there was a traveler's network of veggie oil stations.

If you put a thread together as a reference to where in Canada (or elsewhere) one can find WVO (perhaps quality?) ~ I'll make it a pink sticky so it remains near the top of the forum and easy to find or update.

Something to think about, but not sure it'd fly. It seems that both people and oil come and go, and the database wouldn't be necessarily reliable. I know one conversion company tried this, and it flopped. Maybe because once you list as having oil available for travelers they never stop coming and asking for your oil. I think we'd all like to help fellow greaseballs, but once you're listed online, I suspect that could get old pretty quick as the lineups form, especially if you live in a major city or transportation corridor. There are a lot of converted vehicles out there.

Check out this little rant:

Both www.fillup4free and www.greasemyride tried to establish a network of greasers and both collapsed. Maybe it has to be monetized to make it work?

Well... one could edit their own post when they were no longer offering. There could also be contact information with a caveat with each offer ~ phone ahead to be sure that it's not a dry well, or "by appointment only" to avoid being taken for granted. Just a thought.
