I was "mentally enhanced" at the time of this stumble. Searching for ideas on how to convert shipping containers into cabins. Here's an idea for someone out there with more ambition than I.

Use 40' shipping containers converted into cabins to place on pads on water's edge at a resort that caters to those who don't know how to travel light.

There are plenty of tourists that like to frequent the same stomping grounds year after year. Think of the stack of containers as storage for your cabin.

Joe Tourist comes back each year for the same two weeks of fishing and sun...you crane his cabin onto a pad where he can open it up and make use of all he left in it last season...fishing rods...bbq...all the amenities...when Joe leaves his cabin goes to the stack and the next Jack Tourist gets to use that same waterfront pad for the next two weeks...

Enhancement rules.

Interesting idea, low impact time shares..

First thing that crossed my mind, with your mentioned water front location, was using a marine travel lift to move your ‘cabins’; and proved launching services for customers large boats.

Gee, can I have the SE Asia rights to your idea? :-D

you could mount the "cabins" on train cars and have a track system and just wheel them into place.

Kev, you've got the rights...just buy me a cold case of Keith's when ya come back to BC to visit/live. ;)

Kev and Loki...both great ideas on getting the cabins to and from...but I was REALLY hoping to find a Canter/crane to do the job. ;)

I'm sure the Canter would be too light to do the job, but my wife doesn't know that...and by the time the "mistake" is caught I'll already HAVE my four door / crew cab 4x4 canter...anyone wanna buy a crane? I won't be needing it after the first "tip"...lol

(I'm a guy...what can I say? I'll use ANY means to get my Canter 4x4! lmao)

p.s. The more I think about it, the more this "mobile" cabin idea has merit. A stack of 30 cabins wouldn't mean needing 30 private lots...ten lots now becomes 30 just by keeping them portable.

puffpuffpass...someone take this thing before I think again!

another option would be that the containers would only be a couple rooms like the bed room and storage, and then it could be "plugged" into a bigger unit that would be permanently in place, 10 of those and 30 or more units that can be plugged into them :)

Actually there are a whole bunch of shots of that 'classic' ride - looks like it's the main characters wheels. Sweet ride!

Looks like a funny movie too.
