I have two decent reasons to change my callsigns when I move. I can get one with my initials, and I can get a two letter call, (which is a pipedream in VE3 land). I'm not all that attached to the calls I have ATM. We shall see.

ZS is the prefix for ham call signs from South Africa.

Hello. I'm VE7GYR. I generally operate HF, and like working portable while camping, so I am really looking forward to using the L400 for getting to some new spots around Vancouver island. I'll also be installing a Yaesu FT-7900r in the van this week, for local repeater use.

Now all we need is for the bands to improve some. Its been a terrible summer for HF. Wake up Mr. Sun!

...and I did get the two callsigns I was after. I am now VE7NMM/VA7NM. Here's my Deli with my quadband antenna on it. No ham plates as of yet.

I'm assuming that's a fold-over antenna? Or is it a mag mount that you can pull off when the branches get low? :-)

It's both! It's on a triple mag mount, but I can (and do) fold it over.

Nice. I think I'm going to have to install a fold over on mine. I broke a dual band antenna off of a 4 Runner on a logging road, and it was lower than the Delica is.

You have to keep the vehicle height in mind at all times. I have a sticker on my dash that gives the vehicle height in various configurations, in both feet and metres. I'm 7'10" with just the roof rack, and all the way to over 12 feet with the CB whip.

Almost all my antennas are magmounts, so they will just get knocked over at low speeds.

A friend of mine has motorized mounts, so he can fold his antennas from inside the cab.
