Good Day All

I am considering a new toy and I think a Classic Mini is the way to go. Any Mini owners on the forum? If so, what is the best Mini forum that is comparable to Delica.ca?

Cheers

Minis are awesome. (I may be slightly biased. https://63miniresto.wordpress.com/)

http://www.minifinity.com/forum/ is one of the more active forums. Bear in mind that Minis are considerably more popular than Delicas, so most issues have been comprehensively solved: be sure to read the FAQs and/or search online before asking technical questions.

You know that's what I'm talkin' about!!! That's one great looking Mini!!
Based on my limited research so far I would say that is a MKI judging by the exterior door hinges.

Thanks for the tips

Yup, it's a '63 with all the go-faster bits, wrapped in a ridiculously over-the-top restoration. You know things have gone a little off the rails when you're buffing the paint on the inside of the floor- the paint that's going to be covered with carpet.

There's nothing wrong with a mk3 or later (internal hinges, wind up windows), they are quieter and smoother than the early ones. There are thousands of them in Japan, just watch the auctions. Those ones even have aircon and fuel injection!

As of right now the plan is to import a JDM Mini. It will be nice to get in the garage with room to spare. The Deli is 8', 6" (2.59 meters) tall with the roof basket and spare tire on top and will not fit due to the height restriction.

I can't take the credit. A buddy of mine who is an 86 enthusiast showed me Project Binky for a film related reference. He imported a little mini from Japan and sold it in Van and he seemed pretty happy with the transaction.

Not quite a MINI Classic but it will keep me happy for now. I paid $1100 and put approximately $500 into her. She's a 2002, British Racing Green with a white top, which in my opinion is the only way it should be...lol.

Nice! I had one of those in 2002. At the time, it was a mistake. 2002 was a terrible year to buy a MINI. In the 3 years* I owned mine it went to the dealer 14 times for repairs or recalls, and once for an oil change.

That said, all the teething troubles should be fixed by now, and the first generation of BMW MINIs are becoming collectible. And it's definitely the right colour.

*2 years and 10 months, technically. The warranty expired at 3 years.

Had a '93 Mini. It's a fun car but having children got in the way, I ended up selling it to my friend.
