I like his ideas and his vision, but his presentation comes across as arrogant and entitled. I wouldn't be surprised if he's somewhere on the asperger's spectrum and functions socially by projecting an air of confidence, which he doesn't really understand.

Then again, he could just be arrogant and entitled, but with a messiah complex.

I think he's one of the few people working as hard as needed to save the planet though. If you want to end fossil fuels, you need the alternative to be desirable, and I think Teslas have gone a long way to correct the image problem created by Priuses and Leafs (mainly that people who drive those cars are tree-hugging hippies).
Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.

Musk's intention with his company is definitely not reflective of his ideas alone. I'm not sure if anyone could assume to accomplish as much as he did as a single person. A friend of mine had described him as an 'Elephant in a Circus'... kind of like Donald Trump and i believe that this is correct. The idea that there is one hero and his ideas alone will save the world is a hollywood concept not a reality.

As far as saving the world from fossil fuels etc...i do think that a lot is going into his technology but i also think we are asking the wrong questions. The only way to end fossil fuels is not to use them, but what are Teslas made out of? What about the idea that he is promoting the production, of yet, more cars. There are tons of other solutions but of course he wouldn't want to promote any of those cause it doesn't allow him to make all that money so he can implement his group's idea of how to 'save the world'. in fact i believe that saving the world and making more cars dont fit in the same sentence.

I dont think turning to industry is the best way to solve any real problems that people face. The main problems are created by the same people that provide the solution. I think that requires some thought but not too much as its very obvious.

This guy came to my radar because of people singing his praises. i didn't have to investigate so much to discover his position in the circus. i do think the intention is right... to save the world. i just dont think that an Elephant can solve the world's problems regardless if he is South African.

There are so many things to look at behind the scene right now....and all the guys that could have made things to change for the better AND for everyone, had been killed or silenced (Tesla and much more). If you want to know if he is on our side (stoping enslavement from lobbies and make better living conditions for ALL of us, not only for an elite) you have to check if he can say and do what he wants....if so, I doubt he his with us... Time will tell.... I do follow the Keshe Foundation since more than a year now and I have to say that his Plasma Technology (a combination of Tesla Magnetism and Meyer Gravitational) is very promising ! Although the KFSSI admit having release some product too fast on the market a while ago (deffective Magrav), some soon to be release stuff are definitly well ahead of our nowadays thechnology (https://store.keshefoundation.org/store ... generator/). And, since one of the goal of the KF is also to bring Peace on Earth, "they" are still trying to kill M. Keshe (also many failled attemps in the past) and dicredit all his work on the web (yes people are hire to do so...). Right now, he is in direct contact with world leaders, etc. to ask them for Peace (http://keshefoundation.org): to transit from the actual war economy, to a Peacefull one. Amongst past facts about how the Magrav technology was use to prevent war (It was explained many times in details by M. Keshe) is the capture of the US drones a few years ago by Iran (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g-jdL7FyYDA) and the total electronic blinding of the communication/radar systems of USS Donal Cook (said Donald Duck by M Keshe) not so long ago (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=385tVkuqrqA). M Keshe gave some of his Technology to Iran and Russia (?) at the only condition it will be use for Peace/defense. Anywhay, we have all reasons to believe things may change for the Better around us and I would say it is about time...Hey, lets upgrade our Vans with some Space Technology :o

i checked it out. seems similar to this...

http://www.thrivemovement.com

http://citizensfortrump.com

http://www.scientology.org

https://www.jw.org/en/jehovahs-witnesses/faq/

THIS ONE IS MY ULTIMATE FAVOURITE... SAVED THE BEST FOR LAST.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yr2fE5X7mB4

"it is only when the machine takes the place of God that i object to it. Whatever else may be mechanical, values are not, and this is something that no political philosopher should ever forget" -Bertrand Russell-

Im curious about these organizations though. they stand for a lot of wonderful ideas. Its interesting to see that they agree that everyone is connected on this planet but if you want to get a hold of them you can check them out on youtube and Facebook and instagram. I'm not sure if anyone on the downtown east side here in Vancouver have any of those. I am aware of a program here where they hand out old cell phones to industry workers for safety but those are flip phones. i doubt they have time to look up any of those websites I've posted above.

I like Noam Chomsky's position on this idea. I will not tell the widow that is suffering the loss of her husband not to attend church because that where she finds her solace but as soon as those organizations begin to allow irrational decisions for individuals (mass suicide) i believe it is up to people to say something. Now i dont think that the Thrive community is anything like those crazy things they have in the US (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R00TWby9XDw) this one is hilarious if you ever played street fighter as a kid, but i do believe they have similarities.

A conversation about saving the world involves 7.4 Billion people and these communities seem to garnish whomever they are capable of advertising to which seems to be a very minimal at that. They seem to provide some sort of formative solution on agriculture and such but how does that help farmers in the the phillipines that are poor because Monsanto knows how to market their products. I heard Monsanto now owns Blackwater. Now i definitely dont have any answers. If there was an answer we would have one book about it like a book explaining how gravity works. There aren't ten books to explain gravity. Just one. But i like listening to everyones perspective so far because some of the solutions are quite fascinating. This is one is really interesting and worth the 18min.

I do not tink any of the above can claim making vegetables grow bigger (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LnG-ASYL1o), KF does.

I do not tink any of the above can claim processing cancer (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aiJ-7cxNtvk) or developping health products (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NlD3uYDYByo) KF does.

I do not tink any of the above can claim lowering your electricity bill (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SrP-5Q65kfo) (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfeAHbuIcaA) KF does.

Keshe Foundation is a Scientific Open Source Organisation, nothing to do with the above...M Keshe often say that the is NO Churches in the Space :)

i must say i am enjoying this conversation.

I am not a scientist so i am not really certain which method is better. Being from BC i know how to grow my own 'tomato' plants but as far as growing for the world.. well i can't really have much of an opinion. i Just know its not working very well for many people.

After giving so much control to a small amount of so called 'specialized' people I'm a little hesitant to give my allegiance to yet another organization. I do like the idea that it is 'open source'. I had just done some research on the open source methodology and it seems fascinating. I met a guy recently who has done some sharing on that format and he suggest i look into it. I have to say that hearing that another organization is using the same format makes me a little weary, but at the same time if there are four pizza joints in the same block doing well, whats stopping you from opening a fifth. Here is a Radio open source thing that i came across recently.

http://radioopensource.org

They are sharing some interesting ideas. and some not so interesting stuff too.

His comments at being refuted during the Tham Luang cave rescue suggested a monster ego, board line megalomaniac, and was surprising.

Nasty words directed at someone putting their lives on the line to save the lives of the youngsters because they didn't want your idea? Wow

I think by now, 3 years later, almost everyone will have changed their opinion on Mr. Musk and I certainly wouldn't compare him in any way to Donald Trump as someone did below.

I'd agree with what others have said here, namely that the media has built a cult of personality around him, but really it's the passionate intelligent people he surrounds himself with that have led to so much success (not necessarily in a monetary sense). Elon is very intelligent for sure, he is a one in a million visionary who is a prototypical outside-the-box thinker. At heart he is an engineer, but also a businessman, and he is incredibly ambitious and driven. These attributes, combined with a knack for hiring good people and leading by example are why he is so successful. His goal isn't to be rich, at least not anymore. Him and his wife (? partner ?) recently got rid of most of their personal possessions, homes, etc, so they're pretty new-agey. And I wouldn't be surprised if his earlier forays into the tech industry were in order to generate the funds that he needed to fuel his overall vision for how he wanted to develop the technologies of the future. He seems to be quite the goal setter. From what I've seen he literally just wants to accelerate the technology of mankind, and mainly, start a colony on mars lol. He never outgrew his childhood dreams, which is pretty cool. His way of thinking about solving engineering problems on large scales is pretty ground breaking. I think we're pretty lucky to be around to witness what these companies will accomplish.

At the end of the day though, he's human, and isn't always right. I don't know much about his politics other than that he is convinced of human-caused global warming. He oversells most ideas, saying that we're only a few years away from some massive thing, that experts always turn around and say isn't even a remote possibility. This comes across as super arrogant, but I wouldn't be surprised if he actually believed what he says, and in some cases he has proved people wrong about timelines, costs, etc. On the books Tesla was (maybe still is?) awfully unprofitable, and lots of his ventures have basically been funded by tax payer dollars since he's able to convince people of these lofty technological marvels he dreams up. Time will tell how successful they are.

In terms of his demeanor, that is just classic engineer for you, definitely aspergers spectrum, but all of us engineers are on there somewhere lol. Also South Africans are just more blunt to begin with.
