Re: What shall we do about green1?
Personally I do not support Green1 for moderator.
Based on the resent posting and then editing all his old post to remove the information. Not who I want as a moderator.
I vote no.

I'm going to assume that Green is not editing his old posts because I like the guy... If it is true and he is, well, I guess I misjudged him... But I am assuming it is NOT true... Green?

Re: What shall we do about green1?
"I like watching Saturday Night Fever and kicking drunk cats" I found that quote on the internet. What a load of BS I totally disagree with cats being drunk!
There I did it, I wrote an opinion on the internet that doesn't hold any wait or value. A place that people can hide behind their keyboard and write anything they want and stuff that they would never say in person.
....how many other things can I make up and write on the internet....who cares what people have to say.
-Mark
PS - I do agree with the fact that Green1 doesn't own his Delica.ca content and having them all deleted should not happen. Once it is on the internet it is on there forever.

I don't know the admin personally, but if it was me I would do some time consuming backup database query geek fu and restore and lock all his old posts just to make a point. but then that is my opinion and there is not much weight to it...since i didn't do well in english class.
but i will wait to be corrected...

Re: What shall we do about green1?
Personally I feel that when someone posts onto the internet it is still their info and as long as there is an edit button they are free to edit. I hate forums where there is not an edit button because people rarely proof-read well and also have momentary lapses of reason (read between the lines hehe - I edit my mistakes). If there is something you really feel is valuable online it is better to copy it onto your computer somehow so you know you will always have it.
People online are judged by one aspect of themselves - their online persona. That is why extra care is needed when deciding how to approach a heated debate, don't let it get personal. Always take the high road when things start approaching nastyville :)
Green1 may have edited his posts for a feeling that was temporary but the reaction by others may not be - everyone is different. I appreciate diversity in oppinion, it tends to give the pro's and con's and certainly nobody is always right - except my X
That last comment was intended as a joke incase she lurks here
Anyway I am sure I am rehashing old info to all but a reminder sometimes helps, peace.

Re: What shall we do about green1?
Considering the thread, I'll add the premise that IANAL. I am quite confident of what I'm saying though because its a common point of intellectual property discussed in IT Security matters, and area in which I'm a reasonably qualified expert. You can see my credentials at http://www.vmgeek.org.dfnder wrote:I feel that when someone posts onto the internet it is still their info
The fact is that the data is in the site owner's possession and, without a license agreement stating otherwise, the data belongs to that party. Any other approach puts the site owner in a position of liability to the users that is unreasonable. We've all heard the cliche "possession is nine-tenths the law"...
I agree with you that the Edit button is FTW. I love being able to tweak and improve a post after the fact, and I'll annotate appropriately if its a significant change. Editing is a privilege you've been given as a user. I think we can all agree that user privileges are called privileges for good reason; they should be revoked swiftly when abused.

Re: What shall we do about green1?
When we sign up for the Delica.ca forum is there a statement saying all the info becomes the property of the site? No there is not. There is an edit button for the users to use as they see fit.
Is this site considered a business or is it for the members? If it is a business then plagiarism could be a problem? I know that any items on a work computer are considered the property of the business and sites like facebook and photobucket explicitly state when you sign up that all uploaded data becomes the property of the entity involved. Would facebook of photobucket use those terms of use if it were not necesary? I don't know but I won't assume one way or the other. Personally it would leave a bad taste in my mouth if this site were to operate on the same premise.
I know I gain more from this site than I contribute but I am part of the community, if all posts become property of the site then I feel I would have to logout and just lurk.
cheers

Would you both quit arguing on the internet?! You both know I"M RIGHT, even though I haven't told you what I'm right about.DelicaMark wrote:Nice Crusher! I think this calls for a Red Vs Blue Public Service Announcement on the difference between the internet and real life:

It's implicit.dfnder wrote:When we sign up for the Delica.ca forum is there a statement saying all the info becomes the property of the site? No there is not.
Unless a license agreement states the data is yours, it belongs to the site.
That is what I said in my previous post, if it wasn't clear.

Re: What shall we do about green1?
Jaz, you can't hate me because i won't let you hate me but i will understand if you do end up hating me since the internet is for hatred (or is that "the internet is for nasty").
i am so confused....
you are right and you have the right to be right since it is our Net given right to be right in our own minds.
as for the vid,... that is funny.
