Fuel cell questions

I am using one of my Delicas as a work vehicle and I drive to North to the oil sands quite often. Since the fuel tank isn't very large I was thinking about adding a fuel cell to the Delica so I can get there without Jerry cans.

My question is, can I tie a 60L-100L fuel cell in to my existing tank? If so can it just be gravity fed? I'm a millwright by trade and my brother is a machinist and I was thinking about just customizing a new fuel cell and adding a 1"line from the bottom of the cell to the piping of the tank where you put the diesel pump. In theory would this work?

It sucks getting out of the van in the dead of winter to re fuel.

Looking forward to know how you will do this.... It sucks to be able to drive only 430 km ish with a full tank..

You can for a 70L tank where the spare tire sits. Obviously would need to find a new home for the spare, but its a good spot for an extra tank. I have mine set up on a valve system. When the main tank is empty flick a switch and your onto your second tank.

That's actually really good idea and pretty cool. Thanks for sharing. One question I have is about the breather. Did it have to be above the tank? I understand that the port is on top of the tank but can I plum a line that is coming off the top and ends up below the tank? Is the breather just to let air in our does it serve another purpose?

Basically it's a third fuel tank at the rear, connected to the middle tank the same way the middle tank is connected to the front: a large pipe for filling, a breather line, and a smaller syphon line to equalise the fuel levels.

I intended the breather to simply vent into the middle tank, and from there it would breathe through the middle tank's setup. I found that when filling there wasn't enough airflow, so I had to add an extra breather line that went from the rear tank to the filler neck.
