I've got an idea. Recently I've acquired two twelve volt ionizers. When powered, they produce negative ions. What I am thinking of doing is placing one of these ionizers into the air filter. The air filter being made from metal would cool from the negative ions, effectively turning it into an intercooler. Also, the air going into the chamber, being proliferated with negative ions would affect better combustion, no?
I'm interested in enlightened opinions.
Falco.
P.S.: I'm thinking of placing the other one into my venting system, thereby creating a calm atmosphere in the cockpit. FC.

I know nothing about the action of ionised air in an engine. However I wonder how much calmer a Delica's cockpit could be? It's already pretty serene, we don't want you falling asleep while driving!

I think it's totally worth trying. How big is one of these ionizers? Will it require any mods to the air canister to fit? I've always enjoyed spending time next to running water due to the negative ions it produces, but GB's got a point. My van with no AC is like a hot yoga studio. Sweaty and peaceful.
It'll be awesome if this works for you.
Cheers.

I wonder if it would reduce turbulence and help the turbo to function more efficiently.
In the '90s I was on an AMA factory Superbike team. One summer we had an engineer from Skunk Works that hung out with us. He had talked about ionizing the air in front of the bike to reduce drag. He couldn't get permission to bring any of that equipment so we never got to test it out but he was pretty convinced it would work.
What kind of ionizer were you thinking of using?

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Firstly,my apologies for the late response, it's been stressfully busy in my line of work and I haven't been much on line.
The ioniser PC board is like two by four inches. All the parts are separated in little bags an you have to solder them into place. once the unit is put together, it should be about an inch, inch and an half deep. I'm not sure how to fit this yet but I suppose that's one of the joys of doing mods. God knows I've done a few, taking my batteries out requires planning now.
One thing I'm wondering about is how would this mod potentially affect any galvanic reaction within the system?

I've heard that the ioniser is the poor boy's A/C.Morgonzo wrote:I think it's totally worth trying. How big is one of these ionizers? Will it require any mods to the air canister to fit?
