L300 front locking differential solution, $300!

Post by Growlerbearnz »

I've used mine on a couple of rough trails, a gravel road (just for testing, I usually use 2WD if possible), and when towing the caravan on a couple of grassy hills.

On the slow, rough trails you can feel it, but I don't think it's any worse than the steering being pushed around by rocks and lumps in the trail.

On smoother, faster surfaces you can definitely feel the steering pulling more, and hear the click-click-click as you corner. If you apply too much power while cornering the front diff locks up, the steering pulls abruptly, and the amount of understeer becomes quite exciting. That said, if you're in the habit of applying full throttle while cornering a Delica on a slippery surface you're asking for trouble, unless you're Sebastian Loeb.

I don't feel it's too bad, it's certainly not as bad as I was expecting. The extra traction on slow, technical trails (and when powering up a grassy hill dragging 800kg of caravan) is lovely.
Nothing says "poor workmanship" more than wrinkles in the duct tape.
