L 300 Side Tent......

Post by philmeup1 »

Hey there,

I'm dreaming about camping this summer in my '93 Delica which replaced my '79 Westfalia. The VW had that super cool side tent option that often makes camping a little nicer.

I'm just wondering if anyone on here has any experience with side tents for a Deli?? Perhaps there's one that fits really well and suits the sliding door being on the left side of the vehicle?? I saw a few photos on here without any details or specs and that's what's got me thinking this way.

Any info is appreciated.

Cheers, Phil

I actually emailed BusDepot regarding their Add A Room Tent they offer. They say it should work on a Delica with a left side sliding door. They ain't cheap though. I think it's around $400 bucks, and that's coupled with our Canadian dollar which is shite right now....... So it's a definite maybe as far as purchasing one goes. If I do get one, I'll post how well it works out.

Yeah I want an awning, not bad price for just that. I'm waiting for the dollar to rise as well though. I want it. I don't need it. Or do I??????

I have my 70s Westy tent that i am going to dig out of storage and see if it fits my new l400 and will post pictures..... I wanted to put a roof top tent on it but apparently the gutters aren't strong enough..

I had a roof top tent on my '93 L300 Super Exceed. There was no problem other than the fact that it was way up there and very tricky to get in and out of. I always feared falling out of the thing after being over served..... And I still have the old VW Bus Add A Room, but it definitely only works on North American vehicles with the sliding door on the other side......

I'm gonna get the tent from Bus Depot if the Price is right.
