One plate isn't better than another, the difference is in if you want to simply block off your EGR or if you want to completely remove your EGR. If you remove your EGR you now have a very convenient (ie: easy) place to mount a Pyrometer. Also, it's alot easier to drill and tap a small disposable piece of plate then to remove your whole exhaust manifold. Also, if you're drilling and taping into your exhaust manifold and you break a tap or do something wrong you could destroy it. Whereas these plates are 10 bucks, screw one up and it's just annoying. OR, splurge and spend an extra $3 and I'll drill and tap the plate for you. (only do this if you've already got a pyrometer ready to go)sasquatch-hunter wrote:Hi Jensen,
Which one is better? The thicker one or the thinner one? Also, when will you have time to meet up? I'll say how about another mini meet @ Ikea COQ. next week (week days evening)?
cheers,

Hi Jensen,
I also want one of those blanking plates. I want to eventually add a pyro so I'll take the one where I could drill and tap later. And I also work in New Westminster (Columbia and 6th) 4 to midnight so I could meet you. Just let me know when and where.
Thanks,
Phil

The 1/4" plates are all spoken for. If anybody cancels their orders or drops off the planet I'll post that there's a kit up for grabs. There are still about 12 of the thinner plates for EGR blocking left over so let me know if I should set one aside for you. As it only took a couple of days to go through these I've expedited the online store. I also now have an idea of how much these kit's cost as the fasteners and shipping added up quick. The cost to order from the online store will be $7.50 for the 1/8" plate, $16 for the 1/4" kit, $20 for 1/4" pre-drilled. However, there were several members who purchased large quantities of the kits (I assume you guy's are importers or Garage's?) There will be dealer pricing that's a bit lower, there's contact info on the website if you want to set that up. Also, I'm working on a couple more products that I'll be slowly adding to the site and I'll keep people posted.
Looking forward to meeting most of you on Thursday, I hope you like your plates!
Here's the site for future purchases http://oddballoffroad.com/

Just a reminder,
Mini Meet tonight at the Ikea parking lot @ 6:30 (don't know where the usual spot is so I'm going to be in the South East area near the creek and Mc'D's). Hope to see you all there!

Re: Jensen's EGR Removal Blank Kits - Now With More Cowbell
Since removing the EGR we've done two road trips and some mixed local driving, over 4-5 tanks of diesel.
My fuel economy has increased tremendously. I've gone from 450kms per tank to almost 600.
My exhaust temps hardly ever get to peak (1000F) anymore, and roll off much faster. I can climb hills faster and longer.
DO IT.

Re: Jensen's EGR Removal Blank Kits - Now With More Cowbell
An L300 and an L400 drove through the other end of the parking lot (separately). I waved at them but I don't know if they saw me, or maybe they were just buying Kluiiiipish book shelves or something...
Saturday was ridiculous. I was driving all over the place and I missed one drop off (which I really feel bad about because the guy was probably waiting there) I haven't gotten any reply PM's back from him so I'm assuming he's pretty choked. If you're reading this I'm REALLLLLY sorry!
I'm not going to do any more deliveries by hand as it just doesn't work and I'm burning up alot of Diesel. The meet was a bit of a bust too as only a handful of you guys showed up. I'm still holding a bunch of kits, but I'll probably set up a page on my webstore that I'll PM people (once they get back from vacations and whatnot) so they can pay me the $10 plus $3.36 and $0.41 for padded envelope. I've gotten in more but they're not $10 anymore. They're $16 plus shipping ($3.77 for Canada), which is STILL ridiculously cheap! ($20 for Pyrometer ready, $7.50 for just the blanking plates, same shipping on everything) Also, I'm in discussion with a few of the local shops/mechanic's/importers who might actually start stocking these kits. So in the near future you'll probably be able to just go to your mechanic and ask to have your EGR removed.
Incase anyone needed the website it's http://www.oddballoffroad.com/
P.S. It was nice putting names to faces, Sasquatch Hunter, I'm sorry we didn't get to talk too long and I didn't get to see your ride. Good luck with the new kid! Manic, did you get your plates installed yet? I was kind of hoping we'd get to do installs in the parking lot as well but it'd probably look a bit weird just the 2 of us out there! Also, I'm just finishing pricing on that double din gauge cluster for L300's but I need an L400 to measure up to make an L400 kit. I know you were planning on putting your boost gauge and pyrometer in there so it'd have to hold 2" gauges, but I could make you your plate and then use your dimensions to make the L400 3 gauge kit. I'll give you yours for free if you let me root around in your dash for a couple of hours.
