Hey folks I'm looking at getting a CB radio set in my Delica. Before I do so I was hoping for a few suggestions from the group. Any bad sets or any that would be ideal? I searched amazon and found about a million different sets so I figured I would ask here. Also how easy was it to do the install?...

What is the best way to route coax into my L400 from a mag-mount antenna on the roof? I do not want to drill holes my beautiful Deli, and it has to be a magnetic mount to hold the large quad band antenna I need to use.

Apparently it is illegal in Ontario to use a handheld microphone, like, for a CB radio or VHF mobile while driving. It falls under the same law that covers cellphones and other handheld devices, and, to me, seems absurd, given their prevalence in all manner of service vehicles, cops, fire,...

Are they still popular on the road? What are the advantages of installing one in the expedition vehicle for the big trip? Do they still use all that slang and hard to understand lingo or am I still living in the 70's?

Anybody know what this is??

I found it under the the Front passenger seat tucked under the carpet.
For what it's worth, my van was briefly used as a bush ambulance. I have a feeling it has something to do with that.
I haven't taken the time to trace the wires yet but it looks like two of them go...

Any suggestions ?

I'm thinking a couple of compact handhelds for keeping in contact with a buddy when you are 4Xing out of cell range , also is it feasible for emergency contact or is a separate system better for that?

Most offroaders use a good CB with a quality antenna to communicate between each other when on the trails.

Select few run VHF but most still use CB's because they are cheap and do not require a license.

FSR's are very limited and are not as good as a good CB with a quality antenna.

If you want to stick w/VHF only...the Alinco's are still nice, and have good, strong front ends. The TM-271A Kenwood is very popular for the same reason, and the Yaesu FT-2800M because of its hardiness.
