Oldest and highest mileage bus?

7 years on and I'm still right in the middle with 205,000km

Question about tire

My L300 came with street tires. Great overall but I went to A/T's. First set were Yokohama Geolanders. Very noisy and stiff (re:bounce) but great in the cold, snow and wet. The current set are OK Tire Brand (Canada) Black Lions. Not quite as noisy as the previous and a softer sidewall so not as boun...

L400 service in Vancouver or on Van. Island

I go to an independent mechanic in Burnaby. Shingo Auto, as the name implies, he is Japanese and knows Delicas. My advice is know what parts you may need or how to get them. I source some of my bits and have him do the work.

Vancouver near Car-Free Day - ahh Hypocrisy

West bound on King Eddie there was a 2 Delicaravan. Thanks for the wave.
Lately, when I give the Mitsu wave I get either ambivalence or nothing.
I thought we were all in this together?

Also inquire about suspension and front end. I just had all my front ball-joints done at around 190,000 as they were getting worn. Deli's can come with some surprises if you aren't aware of them. There is lots of good reading here. Engine, Exhaust, Chassis, Body & windows. At 200,000 mine is run...

Owning flat-out vs Payments... who's where?

I used my Line-of-Credit to purchase our L300 from a friend (the deal was interesting, he gave it to me for $500 cheaper than I offered but that is a long story). And all I can say is thanks to BC Place for having me work on the refit of the (new) roof. Long hard hours brought in dough enough to pay...

Since most of us have Deli's for long mileage/time, I'm a fan of K&N. After I replaced my L300's exhaust (opened it up and side exit) I added a K&N. It was a tad better on the uphill climbs.
So long-term cost is cheaper - pull it out, wash it, dry it, oil it - back in it goes.

I agree with Falco - even in the summer let her warm up. But most recently (in Princeton) over the holidays at -18c it took 20-30 min. to get her warm. And that was after a dozen or so cranks of the starter to get her fired up. I'm just glad I put in a fresh battery last year - that definitely helps...

Re: What did you do TO your Delica today?

Front ball joints, brake rotors and pads and new shoes (tires) all the way round.
OUCH$!!!!!

Runs like a treat now.

Changed from Yokohama's to the OK Tire Black Lions. Quite a softer ride and handle the pavement just as well at 2/3rds the price.

Re: What did you do TO your Delica today?

Had the front brake callipers replaced. I knew one side was sticking and had no time to do it myself. Good thing as I found out I also need front bushings. 173,000km. GO figure!
