Re: Dimmer switch & windshield washer fluid?

Because it is a pain to pull out, put in funnel, and pour, I now use a liquid laundry detergent bottle. Squatter and more stable sitting in the van than a normal ww fluid bottle, but it also has a built in funnel!

Re: Calgary Meet

I should be able to make it. My tires were never much good in snow, and they are now rather worn, so not too major 4x4ing preferred. I'll bring what radios I have. Have plenty of tow straps.

Re: Post your call sign's HAM's

I have three call signs: VE6 FVD (my usual) VE6 NCF and VE6BCB (the initials of the cats I had at the time I got the callsigns) First licenced as VE2FUD in Quebec. Trivia: I wrote my exam on 16 January 1995, during the premier episode of Star Trek Voyager. Now have Basic, Advanced, and Morse. Also h...

Re: Warning! ProComp shocks problem

PV2028 is the correct part number for the 5/8 bushing To resurrect an old thread, the bottom rubber bushings on my front Pro-Comp 9000 shocks are in bad shape. Napa doesn't know from PV2028. Any suggestion where to get these bushings in Calgary? An off-road shop? Also, should the upper bushing (pin...

Re: Vibration in the front end. Hubs, bearings, CV joints?

Took it to Kirkham, there is nothing wrong with the wheel bearings. Garrett thought they looked fine, so he had both Mark and Brent look at them. They all agreed that the bearings and hubs are fine. Garrett had marked the driveshaft before removal in Dec., but the driveline place painted the shaft, ...

I was in Skagway back in 2009. Beautiful place! Awsome post! Tnx 4 sharing your adventure! The drive from Carcross down the Skagway and back is incredible. It was neat sharing the drive with the forum while it was happening. The entire trip is still strong in our memories, it still casts a stong in...

Re: Vibration in the front end. Hubs, bearings, CV joints?

Today I took it in for a wheel alignment after having replaced the upper ball joints. The alignment place said there was too much slack in the front wheel bearings to be able to properly align the vehicle. So I'll get the wheel bearings serviced, then we'll see if the problem is gone. I'll report ba...

Re: Vibration in the front end. Hubs, bearings, CV joints?

Something I forgot to mention in my original post ... when I put in the manual hubs, I noticed that in cold weather, let's say below -5, that first thing in the morning for the first few hundred metres the Wheel Lock light would come on, then flicker a few times and go off. I figured it was normal d...

Re: Vibration in the front end. Hubs, bearings, CV joints?

Pull the driveshaft and lock the hubs and go for a drive and then report.... That should help pin point it...Mark the driveshaft when you pull it...try putting it in at 180 degrees Can't drive with it pulled, it has a slip yoke at the transfer case, you would lose the oil in the TC. Hmm 180 is a po...

Vibration in the front end. Hubs, bearings, CV joints?

I'm hoping that someone can offer some insight into a problem I'm having with my L300 Delica's front end. I'm getting a vibration that Kirkham Automotive and I have not figured out. Hopefully a Deli forum member can help. Jesse, this should be right up your alley! First some background. A few years ...

Re: High beam modification

You could also put HID bulbs in your low beam position. Probably easier to do, and wouldn't have everyone in sight thinking you have your high beams on.

Re: Pro-Active in Calgary - cautionary tale

Kirkham Automotive (near Heritage LRT) does great work. That's who I use. They are used to Delicas. Only problem is they don't have a diesel mechanic, so can't get deep into the engine. But timing belts and such they can handle. And I've heard good things about: Nurburgring Ltd 115 61 Ave SW Calgary...

I figure we'll go straight to McLean Store, since you can get coffee there too. Unless someone has last minute needs that can't be satisfied at the Calgary Coop or Cdn Tire, both of which opens at 0800.
