Re: L400 heater core leak
Well, 400km later and it's perfect. Also for some reason my temp gauge is working again. It's been intermittent at best for a year or more. WEIRD. Maybe I knocked something when I pulled the intercooler.

Re: L400 heater core leak
Alright, well I've bypassed the heater core for now, new hoses are on order. If anyone sees anything wrong with what I've done, please speak up! Here's a close up of the inlet and outlet of the heater core. These are located behind the intercooler on the firewall. I tried to loosen the clamps and ge...

Re: Highway suggestions in BC?
The TC is actually lovely through BC, stick to the old highway (hwy 1) when going through from Vancouver to Kamloops and it sends you through the old towns instead of the big mountain passes. From then on its the TC and a nice bit of driving. Keep an eye on the forest fire situation though and take ...

Re: Opinions on drilling through the rear floor
My plan is to avoid drilling the floor all together. At least until I leave Ontario. I'm sure the rust will start as soon as I look at with the salt spray. I'm going to build something off the shelf I already have, no permanent damage that way!

Re: Fender flares after trimming for 31
Hey guys, haven't got around to installing them yet. Our summer has been so-so, I want a couple smouldering hot days to leave them in the sun while I instal them to help out.
From trial fitting them, they look like they're going to work great and they were pretty cheap off amazon!

Re: Front winch mount options
Its usually best to fishplate the mount point to add strength to the thin stock frame material to prevent tear out and dangerous hook launches. Drill the frame on one side. Recommend you insert a 1/8" steel plate inside the frame. Plate needs the same hole pattern . If you have a welder you ca...

Re: Scratched windows from rolling up and down
I'm back!!
I haven't done anything with this yet, there's all kinds of speaks coming from it now. I'll take it apart eventually!
Also, the rear coils are fantastic!!!! Anyone who has a lift, do yourself a favour and go buy HD coils from Coombs!

Re: L400 heater core leak
Hmm, the bypass sounds like a good test too just to make 100% sure it's the core. So, I have to open the dash, pull the core, get it fixed, sacrifice blood, re-install with new hoses, put dash back together. God dammit. At least it sounds cheap-ish and just super labour intensive. Other option, pour...

Re: L400 heater core leak
I'm a plumber so soldering is no problem, especially if accompanied by pictures! (Please and thank you!) I'm only assuming from what I've read online that it's the heater core since I get a foggy windshield and a coolant smell. Would the location you mentioned cause that? I know it's a huge job, is ...

Re: HELP! On the Road, van won't shut off!
I know Coombs wires them in that way sometimes to prevent you from walking away with your headlights on. Guess they forgot to mention that!
