Re: Rough Cold Weather starts.

Back to the story at hand... FWIW, I've been using Howes since I bought the van over 3 years ago - no magic protection for the IP for me it seems. My diluted Stop Leak does not seem to have done the trick (I used one 946mL bottle to a *full* tank of diesel. Since refilling with plain diesel the prob...

Re: Rough Cold Weather starts.

... 1-2 bottles of cheapest engine stop leak added when fuel is down to 1/8 to 1/4... . Nice to hear. I admit I was a bit more nervous about putting too much of that stuff in the tank, especially since the Lucas stuff is the consistency of honey. I opted for a single bottle on a full tank of diesel...

Re: Rough Cold Weather starts.

Ensure all your glow plugs are working correctly - even one faulty plug will give you horrendous starts. Also ensure all the wiring and contact points are super clean. If the plugs arent getting adequate power they will not work to there potential. From my experience cold rough starts are rarely ju...

Good wiki-style page on L400 fuel system

I've been chasing down what I think (but hope is not) an IP seal on the way out, and I came across this good page on the L400 fuel system and related components including a nice picture of the cold starting mechanism: http://www.biopowered.co.uk/wiki/Mitsubishi_Delica_fuel_system I did a quick searc...

Re: I should (finally) introduce myself

Fantastic build thread! Nice work on a great looking van.

But I gotta say - When I saw that "after" picture near the end:

Wonder if a Swede had a one-night stand on a trip to Japan? :-D

Cheers!

Re: L400 seatbelt config

For the record my L400 Exceed 8-seater has shoulder belts for both the right side seat and the fold-out jump seat on the left (which I agree is rather uncomfortable for the non-young-of-buttock). The bench also has a lap belt for the center seat as well as an extra lap belt for the right side seat i...

Re: L400 wastegate valve

From the looks of it, you have removed the spring-loaded overpressure popoff valve at the rear of the intake manifold. The actual wastegate is lower down next to the turbocharger, attached to the exhaust manifold. An actuator rod from the turbocharger assembly opens the wastegate when maximum pressu...

Re: Glowplug tip burnt off.....now what

FWIW Here's a voice from the other side of the Hyundai fence... I've heard good things about the NGK CY-55 plugs too, but I have just passed my 2 year anniversary since installing Hyundai glow plugs, and they have performed perfectly (Hyundai part number in the thread below): http://www.delica.ca/fo...

Re: New VIN code for L400?

Call up Mardy at AAI; his insurance guy in Richmond got mine processed and it was a no-brainer.

They too used the Japanese VIN on the panel behind the fusebox.

I think that's where the interior temperature sensor protrudes into the cabin, but that one looks different from the one on my L400.

Re: LED light bulbs ???

Autolismo is great for people in the Vancouver area too, the quality doesn't seem to be as good but the prices are great, they also don't have all the bulbs you need for the entire vehicle, but I've purchased a few for the van. That name sounds familiar. Are those the guys in North Van on Marine Dr...
