Oil Pan Leaking

I just noticed a leak at the front of my oil pan. Anybody got an Oil Pan Separator Tool I can borrow?

Front Brake Pads

Well, at long last I have replaced my front brake pads. The holdup was, I got some erroneous information that the brake pads for the L300 are the same as used in the Montero. Ordred a set from RockAuto and discovered this is not true! At least RockAuto only carries parts for the Montero V6, and thes...

Cross comparable brake shoes

I ordered Wagner QC530 pads for the Montero, from Rock auto, and they're the wrong ones. I think they're for dual piston, and I need for single piston. Any leads, anyone?

Slow Speed Reverse Chicken!

So I'm parking on Fraser Street near King Edward. I find a spot on the right, I signal and move over. I put it in reverse and start backing in and behind me there's, "HONK! HONK! HONK! HONK!" I stop and behind me this woman in an SUV has driven frontwards half way into the parking space I'm backing ...

Access to wiper linkage?

Spot-on Mardy! The wiper could be tightened from outside the car, without getting under the dashboard. I'd like to add the following: The nut that holds the windshield wiper on is covered by a hinged lid. That black, smooth thing at the base of the wiper arm just lifts up with your fingers, revealin...

tires and instrumentation...

I was told that the tires that are the correct size for the L300 are not available in North America. I put on a set of Geolanders, which are popular, but slightly larger, meaning the speedometer reads a little under the actual speed. Anecdotally, I've observed that if I do what the needle says is th...

Rear gate latch effed! w/ One Possible Solution.

Thanks for your post Falco, that helped when I couldn't get my tailgate open. I always thought it was strange that there was no way to unlock the tailgate from the inside. I even had the interior panel off before and the third tail light removed and never noticed that lock/unlock button! I never kno...

Squeaky alternator belts: an investigation.

My L300 has a squeal at startup in cold weather only. Persists for the first 2 minutes, then fine. Was worse when I bought the van, and I tensioned the belts (see my lengthy post for procedure: http://www.delica.ca/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=5849&p=90881#p90881 ) and applied some CDN Tire belt dress...

Recharge Air Shocks for Tail Gate

Do you know where I can get the air shocks that hold up the tail gate recharged? They're at the point where in warm weather they're fine, but when it's cooler they sag, and I bonk my head.

Sound Insulation

I put sound insulation foam on the front wheel wells, and in the foot wells. I did the rear wheel wells and the floor in the back previously, and it made such a difference I finally got around to doing the front. I did this two Saturdays ago, and waited to post this til I took it on the highway, bec...

Re: What did you do TO your Delica today?

I added a layer of foam insulation in the back and wow! did it ever make it quieter. I read an article that said that one of the differences between economy cars and luxury cars is, luxury cars have better insulation, that absorbs road noise. I looked up products for cars, and they're closed cell fo...

Re: Our gas gauge, engine temperature gauge and the RPM stop working.

I concur, sounds like the connector is not making connection (probably oxidized contacts over time, will clear up just by unplugging and plugging back in.) I took my gauges out recently (trying to solve a jumpy tach problem) and it was pretty easy. I think the only tool you need is a Philips screwdr...

Do you know about Sonim? http://www.sonimtech.com/index.php/en/products/device When you own your own hardware, the cel service providers lose their grip on you... "What plan are you on?" Re: Second Click Whayyyyyyy too long

I'm not sure what everyone is talking about, regarding the second click. I generally don't hear it, because it's so long after the first, I'm driving by then. According to the signal timing charts in the manual, the second click can happen up to 180 seconds (three minutes) after the first, when the ...

Re: ether anyone?

Yeah, have you checked glow plugs and ECU? Is it hard to start cold but starts normally once it's hot? That would be glow plugs not working.

If so, you can skip the ether and cold start by jumpering 12v from your battery to your glow plug bus bar.

Or maybe you can find another use for the ether...
