Is this the Accepted Amount of Smoke when Starting? (video)

Thank you so much Growler for giving me a path to pursue!

I'll throw some injector cleaner down it's gullet and see what happens.

Now, if it were low compression, would there be any other symptoms?

I checked the glow plugs and they looked fine and tested good as well. Just for the hell of it I stuffed some new ones in and it may have improved the smoking a tiny bit. Here is a picture of the glow plugs I took out.

I was thinking that was too much smoke. Also, you are right, it would smoke like that when it was -23c. Yesterday was about 23c. I actually have a bypass button that I push to warm the glow plugs. I push the button, it clicks, and I hold it in for 5 seconds. When I release the button I get the secon...

Is this the Accepted Amount of Smoke when Starting? (video)

Hey guys, Starting the Deli up seems a little too smokey to me. There is heavy smoke at the start and then intermittent puffs until the engine is warm. As mine is the only one I've ever seen start up, or even running for that matter, I was wondering if this is normal? She runs runs great once warm a...

From The Deli's previous life.

Cool find JavaBob. I wonder if that doll could fetch you a couple of bucks off Ebay? It would make for an interesting Mascot for the van though :-), unless you have children then not so much. For a brief moment I had thought about making her the mascot, then I imagined my daughter asking what it wa...

From The Deli's previous life.

I also found my Deli on Google maps. I typed in the info from the Japanese title and boom, there's my truck in the sitting in the driveway in Fuji.

Got An Idea...

I wonder if it would reduce turbulence and help the turbo to function more efficiently. In the '90s I was on an AMA factory Superbike team. One summer we had an engineer from Skunk Works that hung out with us. He had talked about ionizing the air in front of the bike to reduce drag. He couldn't get ...

What is this broken part?

I'd remove it. I'd then put it in a labelled ziplock bag and put it in my big box of random Delica parts, but I'm a bit mental like that. I feel your pain, lol. I have a series of labelled, see-through plastic bins for everything from appliance parts to window parts. Time to start the Delica box! I...

What is this broken part?

It's the A/C full throttle cutout switch, it cuts off the A/C for 12 seconds when you want full power. It's not hugely important. It's also irreplaceable, as far as I can tell. If someone can figure out the part number, or a replacement part, I'll be interested. ;-) Thanks Growler! Do you think I s...

That is going to be one bad-ass roof growler! Nice job. It reminds me of something that may help you recoup the cost.

I noticed this while I was doing an oil change. I was told it is the a/c idle choke but I can't seem to find it in the service manual.
Would love to be pointed in the right direction!

Where to get bushings? L300

My new issue is drivetrain oscillation- something to do with old transmission mounts and slightly more power than Mr. Mitsubishi intended. Hence my next Amayama order will include: Transmission cross member MB581265 (NZ$292) RHS trans mount MB581261 (NZ$117) LHS trans mount MB581258 (NZ$118) RHS en...
