Re: Need help deciding on year / reliability
I wouldnt want the one with 312,000 km. You can get them with much lower mileage for the same price. I much prefer the L400 though so im a bit biased. Of the L400's I like the older one better, assuming the mechanicals are good. I also think you get a much better price with a private sale, and in my...

Re: Velocity Cars Reputation?
Have heard some bad things, mthough I have no personal experience. IMO the best delica dealer around is Coombs Country Autos...but I would say the best and most likely safest purchase would be a private sale which has been run in Canada for a few years. Price will be much lower and you should be able...

Pressurize with nitrogen, leak should be obvious. The pressure relief valves are often stuck open, may be one of them.

Re: Hoping to be an old VW owner.
I think the newer L400's have power side steps...not sure how low they go. Maybe that and a stool? Mine is fairly high, would be challenging for a senior to get in and out of.

Re: v6 gas or 2800 diesel
I've got a 2.8L diesel L400. I love it, its the LWB which I much prefer to the SWB. Looks a lot more beastly. I'm getting awesome fuel economy with the diesel (around 10L/100km going 100km/h average on the highway). I had a hard time finding fuel economy information for the gasser. I've only driven ...

Re: Out of Province Inspection and need to vent
If your getting your exhaust replaced seeing if you can get it roaced with a larger pipe. I've got an L400 and got a 2.5" side dump exhaust installed for less than a new stock exhaust pipe. Not sure what the L300 exhaust is like though...

Re: A/C Advice
The vacuum will cause the water to boil off and exit as vapour, the oil won't evaporate under vacuum. As its being vacuumed you can add some oil to the low pressure side I believe, the vacuum will pull it through. Not 100% sure if oil was added to the low pressure side or high pressure side. Are you...

Re: A/C Advice
I believe your system should already have oil in it, most of which will be in the compressor. When I had mine recharged I asked for some oil to be added, the tech added an oz and warned against adding to much. Can cause lots of issues. Thats my understanding anyways.

Re: A/C Advice
Its fixed! Having that AC on the ride home yesterday was ice cold, turned the van into a fridge. Got a used rear condesor put in by CCautos, a bit less than 200$ total. Very pleased with that. Got it pressure tested and it was hissing like crazy. Was pretty bummed out, figured I had just thrown away...

Re: Scratched windows from rolling up and down
My window was slightly out of the track and this occurred. Pretty simple to pop off the panel and take a look. Good time to give it a shot of silicone soray a well. Unfortunately my drivers side window likes to slip out of the track, I can now do the whole repair in under 15 minutes haha.

I'll take an oil filter and fuel filter if you split everything up.

Re: Post-Import Service Reccomendations?
CCautos is great, my favourite place to take my van. One thing I am just doing now that I should have done a long time ago is get a proper skid plate fitted. The stock one is pretty lame. Will probably want the stereo replaced.
