Mine was broken, so I had the tire carrier strapped up to the body somewhere. Found a bolt at Canadian tire and crudely welded a nut onto it (tried not to breathe toxic smoke). Used threaded rod for the bolt part.
I still have it strapped up as a fail safe. Does anyone see anything wrong with...
Anyone know the size of the bolt and the thread pitch?
Posting from the side of the freeway while I await a tow! I was driving along the I5 southbound from SF to LA and shortly after I passed the spot where my very first van caught fire in 2013, my delica shuddered and started making a grinding sound. I immediately pulled over, smoking (white) to see a...
I don't know if there is anything of use in this old group buy post at mightyram.net about crate engines or not:
Is there a good garage in Edmonton area that they are use to work on Delica?
I would like to get a full inspection and change few part on my rig for making my Delica like a new car. I have few issue with my van and I would like to invest some money to make her reliable.
I have developed a trust in Automotion on 111Ave. In my opinion he know's his delica's (and other diesel imports), the import parts acquisition scene, and has working relationships with delica specialists/importers. (780) 484-9269
The head on the ol' L300 cracked about a year ago and I'm finally ready to tackle the job. My van is parked uncovered in the backyard, no hydraulic lift or air tools. Grungy backyard mechanic! I'll be doing the updates in real-time so it might take awhile. I'll endeavor to be as...
Or have I misunderstood the question?
Thanks, that was it in part. I was hoping to glean what I may from Tojo's experience. I encountered things like considerable carbon and stubborn seat washers, cleaning and working carefully to keep debris out of the head. I was trying to learn as much as I...
I'm going to document my modifications on the new to me Townace. I hope someone finds it interesting. A couple of specs - 2000 Toyota Townace, 5 speed manual, full time 4x4, 2.2 diesel no turbo, 70,000 kms a former municipal vehicle. Motor is rated at 125 hp so a bit more than the 4d56T of course...
I will have to remove the drivers seat and the floor pan under it to do the EGR delete. That is the only way I see of getting to the exhaust side of the pipe. I did disconnect the vacuum line so that the valve is not operating - baby steps!
Truck has been a champ working since I got it home. I'm...
Have a 94 exceed two tone green with the charcoal metallic on the bottom. Id like to touch up a nice gouge. Anyone found a close match at crappy tire (paint pen) or anywhere else?
I was able to get custom mixed spray cans @ NBR Distributors in Kamloops. They are also in Vernon and Salmon Arm. They will use their paint gun or whatever you call it to match. I also tried a number of Mitsubishi codes and most of the usual ones are in their system. They are about $25 per can and...
I recently purchased a 2002 Pajero Exceed with the 3.5l V6 and want to do the timing belt. I went to rock auto of course and ordered the parts for the 02 montero thinking i shared the engine. but yesterday I went for a look in the engine bay and pulled the inspection plate off the timing cover and...
1992 L300 manual. Suddenly Fuel gauge, temp gauge, tach, signals, not working. Dash lights work, headlights work. I was having some kind of grounding or shorting issue: the negative battery terminal would spark and even flame at startup. (I've got a WVO system with lots of electrical...
No worries Growlerbearnz, your help was illuminating.
I need a little help from all the experts here on the forum to determine if I am imagining things or if there is a potential problem with my Delica. I have a 94 L400 Auto and have been noticing for months now that when I am driving and I go to accelerate, the vehicle revs higher and speeds up but...
I’m having similar transmission issues but my delica is a 2002 model so not sure if it even has a TPS. Any ideas?
Looking for recomendations to get my head gasket repaired in victoria. I would rather not take it to coombs and when i called cvi they said they dont work on. DELICA???? sonce when does CVI not do Delica work?
I've downloaded the Mechanic's shop manual (awesome) but can't find the Owner's Manual anywhere. Anyone have one? I'm curious as to what nuggets of info might be in it...
No problem!! I try to help people out on here as much as I've been helped over the past 5 years. At this point, I've got a lot of catching up to do. I'm not very good with mechanical advice as I'm mechanically declined. But I'm excellent for things like this.
Well it's official. I've broken my 2nd drivers side rear view mirror on my '93 L300!! Both times it was from attempting to scrape off the freezing rain from the mirror. Don't get me wrong, I love winter. The freezing cold temperatures. The treacherous driving conditions, The hard starts in the...
I'm in Peterborough, about an hour and a half north of Toronto in Southern Ontario. We've just had the most ridiculous ice storm pass through over this past weekend. There's tons of snow that's too heavy to move without a plow. Getting someone with a plow is impossible at this point. So my Delica...
This is my first post. I've been lurking around here, but have yet to pipe up. I finally, however, bought a 1996 Delica Space Gear (super exceed gasser) and now have some questions. I'm really excited, but some things came up during the Ontario-required safety inspection that need...
You probably know by now rotors are proprietary and need be purchased through mitsubishi or a shop that sells their parts. All the other parts can be had through your local parts retailer, Montero and sport are the same parts. Check out prices they vary a lot.
I just imported this week a 2002 Delica Space Gear with a possible transmission issue. When hitting around 50kmh and up to 80kmh (before highway speeds) the transmission will change down a gear then back up to next gear constantly. This is most apparent when keeping the acceleration constant and...
I had my tranny flushed and my TPS (Trottle Position Sensor) swapped out. Not sure if your Generation 2 L400 has that I think it to do with earlier models (mines a 94).
You have low kms too! ( I’m over 200,000)
You might wanna look those up and see
If it’s relevant to your van and...
While having a very slow day fishing this past week I had an idea that I think may have some merit. Most Delica owners expound on all the camping and back road driving they intend to do once they have it 'set up' for camping. If this is the case we should have a vast knowledge of many of the...
I think the camping season will be a little late this year for those of us who like to camp when it's warm. I was out to Morgan lake this weekend to see if the ice was off. The good news is it was, the bad news is the guys out fishing were dressed to go ice fishing. This lake has been open as early...
I've just finished upgrading to dual piston brakes and new lines. I've got a question for whoever has done this job using the Russell 7" long steel brake lines: My upper line is very long compared to the original rubber one and touches the frame. I assume over time it might cause the line to...
Tidy! Here's how I made the bracket work:
Bending the steel brake line is a bit tricky though, you have to be careful to bend it on as large a radius as you can, otherwise it'll kink and then you have to replace it.
So I managed to forget to put the extra oil filter I brought along in my van when leaving Vancouver, now in Fairbanks, AK, wondering if anyone knows if there is a parts supplier, or a filter that will work on 1995 L400 that can be purchased up here?
Appearantly the FRAM 8936 and the Napa 1675 will work:
The Mistubishi ME013343 comes from the Delica Owners Club list:
