Mazda Bongo Friendee

I had to part ways with my '96 L400 earlier this year due to severe rust and am now trying to figure out what vehicle to get next. I was planning on a similar L400 but noticed a neighbor working on a Mazda Bongo Friendee he recently imported and got curious. It seems like a decent camper solution wi...

Recommendation for brake work

Wayne, that is a genius contraption for the brake line! My solution was far less...elegant... or effective for that matter :/ New caliper, pads & rotor installed. Brake line bled and voila! No More Grinding :) Brakes feel a bit soft but I probably have to do another round of bleeding as this was my ...

Best source for brake parts?

I just replaced the Front Pads on my 1995 L400 PE8W (diesel) with Raybestos EHT 530H from Lordco. They were not cheap $100+. It seems like an item they have in stock. At least at their location on E 2nd in Mt. Pleasant. Napa also has them... or at least an equivalent.

Recommendation for brake work

I ended up sourcing a rebuilt caliper, new rotor and lightly used pads from Rising Sun for a pretty decent price. Picking it all up tomorrow & will let you know how the rebuild goes. I'll check with Stephen to see where he gets the calipers from to help with sourcing in the future. I've never actual...

Recommendation for brake work

UPDATE #2... for those of you still following along... After finally prying open the caliper on the rear passenger wheel i discovered the source of the grinding. I seems like the piston was either fully or partially seized. The brake pads had worn off all their braking surface and now the metal back...

Recommendation for brake work

**Update** It appears as though the rear passenger side caliper (or piston) is seized . I removed the bottom pin but was not able to lift the caliper at all. My guess is that the piston is engaged (or rusted) and holding the caliper on tight. I tried a few taps with the rubber mallet but nothing. I ...

Recommendation for brake work

Thanks for the feedback and apologies for taking so long to reply! Since posting I have watched many youtube videos and read many forum posts both here and other deli sites. Now that I am an expert ;) I took a stab at the front brakes myself because they seemed easiest to tackle. Front what I can te...

Recommendation for brake work

I have a 1995 L400 PE8W 4M40. It's recently started making some grinding noises, which appear to be coming from the brakes. Any recommendations of a shop or mechanic in or near East Van that could diagnose the issue & provide a repair estimate? The van has a few 'challenges' already and I'm trying t...

Frame Rust - Looking for advice

Thanks @growlerbearnz I definitely am not in any position to attempt a repair like those fellows in the UK... and to make it worse, I found another massive hole on the rear DS chassis as well when I was hopelessly grinding away surface rust this afternoon in the blazing sun. Do you know anyone or an...

Frame Rust - Looking for advice

Hi, I crawled under my van today to tackle what I thought was some surface rust & discovered that rust had eaten through the frame. I have the same problem on both sides of the van near the front suspension - sorry dont know the technical term for this part but I've attached a link with pics. The re...

Mounting into ceiling

I'm looking at options for a simple curtain install on my L400 (current velcro setup is not amazing). I'm considering a few options: 1) Snap system > One side of the snap mounted into the ceiling, the other into the curtains. 2) Hook system > like the snaps, find small hooks that can be mounted into...

Re: L400 Bed/Bench

@glenn,@DeliTan,

Those are both quite great. I especially like the one with the bulkhead as you can keep both middle captains chairs and have separate area in the back for storing gear.

thanks alot!

L400 Bed/Bench

I'd like to build a fairly simple folding or sliding bench/bed for my 95 L400. Plan is to remove the fold-up rear seats but leave the middle captains chairs in place. I'm fairly handy but far from skilled so simple is best... I've searched through the posts here and have found a few interesting L300...

Re: Where should I get my brakes & oil change done?

Alright I will check it out. I work at the lululemon head office on cornwall & cypress... so only a few blocks away. I typically ride my bike to work but when I drive, I park it close to the office as I cant fit my van in our parking lot :(
