Re: Meet N Eat Sunday 9June2013 2pm Langley Air SuperExceed

It was good to see everybody again. We even had decent weather! :-)

Some of the approaches on Runway 19 were a bit distracting, but that's another matter.

Re: Part number for turn signal bulb?

When Gumdrop blew a bulb I took it out and looked at the bulbs at Canadian Tire until I found the right one. When you own a Delica you get out of the habit of asking the sales people for help. :-) If one has blown, the other can't be far behind. I always replace them in pairs. Cheap insurance. ...la...

Re: Anyone over 6'5" driving a Delica?

I'm "only" 6'1", and the one issue I have in my high roof L300 is I sometimes have difficulty seeing traffic lights, since they're above the top of the windshield from where I'm sitting. Everything else is fine. I have to drive with the seat all the way back. I fly with the seat all t...

Re: Inverters

I want to plug in a power bar and recharge 2 camera's, 2 phones, 2 laptops and possibly more at once. I also don't have a lot of excess room. That's only a couple of hundred watts. No problem! The only real issue is the usual one, zillions of little devices that all need to be plugged in. Many new ...

Re: HOW MANY DELICAS ARE IN QUEBEC?

I was in Montreal a couple of weeks ago and didn't see a single Delica.

They're such a familiar sight in B.C., and it felt kinda weird not to see any... :?

Love Story

I haven't posted much recently. I was starting to drift away; Gumdrop is a delight to drive, but a touch pricey to run. We all know that. So I parked Gumdrop in November, with an eye to sprucing her up in the new year and selling her. On New Year's Eve, just for the hell of it, I tried starting her....

Re: Cost of diesel... WTF?!

Try gassing up an airplane some time. Last time I gassed up my favourite Cherokee http://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/C-FKKF.html at Langley 100LL was $1.83 a litre. When I did my long cross-country flight to Powell River I gassed up before I flew back. How about $2.23 a litre? If you brim ...

Re: My other car is a ... bus, actually.

I've had to hold for Harbour Air at Langley a few times. On one flight the tower asked me if I was ready for immediate takeoff, with Harbour Air on short final. My instructor thought the controller was nuts for even asking. I've also flown through their wake turbulence. They don't fly out of Langley...

Re: My other car is a ... bus, actually.

I had my first flight in this cutie http://www.airport-data.com/aircraft/photo/163754.html earlier this week. The original motivation was a couple of weeks ago when I couldn't fly because the Cherokees were all either in the shop (including the one I was going to fly) or booked by other people. Expa...

Shrug. Maybe it's just in Seattle. Maybe they've changed - it's a while since I tried.

YMMV.

Re: replacement parts/service in oregon and cali

Diesel is plentiful, but Shell stations (in Washington, at least) don't take Canadian credit cards at the pump. Chevron do. Look for the green "diesel" sign. Be warned: diesel is more expensive than premium gas. :-( Americans aren't used to seeing such vehicles. You'll get a lot of "w...

Re: depth of our coolness

Why accents? Paint the whole van fluorescent pink. Sounds good to me! To identify my headset at the airport not only does it have a label with my name on it, it has a pink ribbon on the head band. The guys won't touch it for some reason... :-) That's me landing KKF (the red and white plane) at the b...

Re: Prince Rupert Loop - Apr20-26

I did Prince Rupert to Port Hardy the summer before last in Gumdrop, and it was a magical trip. A shame you're not doing it during the day... :-( Getting to Prince Rupert was a bit of a grind, I left Quesnel at 8 that morning and got to Prince Rupert about 8 that night. This is longer than Quesnel t...
