Re: Delica P35W won't start -- could it be the glow plugs?

As Growler says the plugs help heat the cylinders to aid initial combustion. Black smoke is typically unburnt fuel, which you were getting before as 2 cylinders werent achieving compression ignition point. Now they are. It should also sound a lot better, but, its hard to hear for some, I sometimes t...

You'll find the best way to use 4wd in snow is to start with decent tyres ;-)

Re: Alignment after shock swap?

Not in my understanding. Shocks dont effect ride height, which, if changed, would require a front end alignment.

Re: Corrosion Control Mod (Anti Rust Protection)

You can get sacrificial anodes for cars, its called galvanising. Negative ions are just electrons. The science behind large anodes on ships works because you are sat in a conductive solution and you can use that, it isnt the same on a car body, and flowing electrons through the car body is no differ...

Re: '93 L300 Rough Start

Lordy, what a mess when I try to reply, that to follow. Water separates out in fuel, and IIRC it floats, so it makes no sense to be a startup issue, plus, the filter has a water trap and detector. My money is on a split fuel pipe, you suck in some air, and the pump clears it and it runs until you st...

Re: Rusty roof on a '93 with Crystal Lite option...

HI Phil, hopefully you can find it, I am of course on the other side of the pond, but, acf-50 is one of the rust products that has really impressed me, and I have been trying to kill rust for over 2 decades now! I dont believe you will need to re-apply, the year thing is for it in harsh environments...

Re: Rusty roof on a '93 with Crystal Lite option...

You wont stop it from the outside. No way. You could possibly treat the outside and once its done spray something like acf-50 on the inside without a full strip and it might soak into it from the reverse and neutralise it. But if you do nothing it will just carry on.

Re: Oil pressure sensor

I would use a remote fitting kit, I wouldnt trust that weight hanging off of there. It would be ironic if you fitted a guage to keep an eye on your oil pressure and the act of fitting it to the vehicle was the cause of catastrophic oil pressure loss. If it is fitted remotely, remember to fit it remo...

Re: Ride Height - what is yours? (L300)

Also Piglet, its worth noting that a lift on leaf springs wont be a bad thing for the propshaft per se, unless it exceeds the articulation angle of the UJ's, its the act of lifting by longer shackles which causes problems. Since one end of the spring is now much lower than the other, the angle of th...

Re: Tablet mounting solutions?

Sheepskin sheep covers man, feeling the sticky love. I just use my phone for everything, music plays out of it via buetooth, the satnav plays over that via bluetooth, charge it as I'm driving, and job done. I started out thinking tablet and realised it was overkill. The tablet I got is now my ebook ...

Re: L300, seems to be loosing power, unable to get fuel

My money is on incorrectly installed fuel filter. SInce you just put one on mainly. In my experience the engine is self bleeding, you may have to bleed the pump body, but it will bleed the rest out itself. I think there is some issue with some filters with odd seals, or it could be the seal has twis...

Re: Wheel came off... Please read!

Those hubcap rings are a good shout, the recess in the rim for them is literally only big enough to just hold it, and since its spllt, it means it could easily drift outside that, tighten it up, with a bit trapped under the rim proper, it pops into the recess, bosh, instant play and the nuts undo.

Re: Wheel came off... Please read!

As Shaun says, check the wheel stud condition. The tapered system is fine if the angles match and they dont get any play, but _any_ play and they will loosen off, locking nuts or not. I had a wheel come off my landy and overtake us, it was kind of amusing until it went off downhill and crossed to th...
