Manual Hub

It'll be interesting to see how they go.

Just for future reference, MB886389 is the original part number. CAD$230 each from Amayama. Ouch.

WTB working a/c compressor (L300)

If you get stuck you could risk an Aliexpress compressor, CAD$120. (https://www.aliexpress.com/item/MR17565 ... 21720.html)

No idea if they're any good, but they're cheap.

Alternator Belts replacement

For replacing the timing belts, I'd print out the relevant sections of the workshop manual (dis/reassembly steps, torque settings) and mark off each step as you complete it. Refer to Tojo's thread for guidance where the workshop manual is too vague. Take photos as you go. Have a bunch of jars or bag...

Shut down and stayed down

Sounds like you've fixed it, but for curiosity did you check the resistance of your old cutoff solenoid? It should be 48-60 ohms. If it's less (or open circuit) then the coil's failed.

The upper solenoid with the green boot causes the injection timing to advance, to help with cold starts and running.

Where can i get a new key for a 94 L300

That's a photo I ganked from an Ebay seller, it's the Aussie 20C coin (you know the one, you've seen dozens of them I'm sure) for size reference. Apparently in Australia everyone measures things in "coins" and rulers haven't been invented. ;-)

Where can i get a new key for a 94 L300

Evan at Delica Works International ( https://www.facebook.com/groups/delicaworks/ ) can send you a complete new lock set (Ignition lock plus 5x door locks) for about US$150. I recently fitted one and the quality is great. Comes with two keys. The brand is Yau Young. s-l1600.jpg You might have to sli...

Oil Pan/Sump Removal

The side cover (balance shaft cover) by the injection pump will distort and leak if it's overtightened. I chased leaks from that cover for a while, in the end I just bought a new cover, seal, bolts, and bolt seals- and the leak was cured! When you fitted the alloy halfmoon seal, did you use grey hig...

Ideally you'd add or remove shims until you have the clearance the manual says, but I've seen a few vans with no shims at all so it's probably ok.

Oil Pan/Sump Removal

It's a real pain with the engine in place, you really need to use an oil pan separator tool, and the crossmember gets in the way. It can be done, it's just a hassle. Once it's separated, you might need to undo the engine mounts and lift the engine a little to get the oil pan out. That said, the oil ...

Loosening all the bolts is a good idea when reassembling. No point loosening the taper pin nuts, but loosening the other bolts that hold the balljoints in place might give you a little more movement. You're following the workshop manual, right? Have you checked that there is actually enough clearanc...

Yup, they get stuck after a few years. An oil filter wrench with a strip of rubber to protect the chrome sometimes works too.

Is this sensor is the only engine temperature sensor? Yes, that is the only sensor that can change the way the engine or temperature gauge works*. The sender is actually two senders in one piece: one terminal goes to the dashboard gauge, one terminal goes to the glow plug computer. Either terminal ...

Bench test each glow plug- use a jumper lead to power each glow plug in turn and see that they all take about the same time to start to glow. Like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QXqz9XDDPiU Does your van have the super-quick glow system (no warning light on the dashboard, you listen for the c...

Smoke from a diesel engine (especially a primitive one like ours) is completely normal at high altitude (above 1500m or so). The fuel injection pump injects a certain amount of fuel based on engine speed, accelerator position, and boost level (increase in pressure above atmospheric), but it has no w...
