Re: L400 2.8 diesel rough cold start - UPDATED
I remember something I posted in an earlier thread about lumpy starts and checking for faulty glow-plugs vs. other issues: As a rule of thumb check, a faulty glow-plug will likely result in a chugging startup when cold, but a rhythmic one ('cuz it's the same cylinder failing to fire each time: chug-...

Re: L400 2.8 diesel rough cold start - UPDATED
In my experience, when everything is running correctly it will start up perfectly on the first or second crank. No white smoke, no lumpy idle, nada. If you have tested the glow plugs and their connection to the busbar linking them together (!!), then I would suspect air is getting into the IP, despi...

Almost 5 years and 640 posts later...adios!!
... so long and thanks for all the things! Life has a way of taking unexpected turns, and after purchasing a new (to me) vehicle over this past weekend, it is time to head on to other pastures. My family and I have enjoyed our L400 immensely, and this site has been a large part of that enjoyment. We...

Re: I think I understand the "HOLD" mode on my transmission.
So the consensus seems to be that, instead of "Hold" referring to "Hold"ing in a particular gear; rather it is so labelled because someone at Mitsubishi decided to use that word instead of "Grip" or "Snow" or "Slippery".

I've never come across this anywhere else; maybe it's obvious to others, but it caused a little light bulb to go off in my head, so here it goes... On the automatic L400/Pajero, there is a rocker switch on the dash/instruments labelled "A/T MODE". When pressed up, an indicator light "...

Interesting find; this guy has it for even cheaper:

Have you actually tried this out on your vehicle? (Edit: Whoops, read that it worked fine for you. Very neat!)

Re: arrrgh I'm rapidly going off this thing...
I have to ask why you wanted to choose this upgrade path; seems rather complicated. The interior lights on my L400 were certainly the grunts, so for around $8 ea I purchased three interior LED replacement bulbs from a local LED importer/retailer - I have since noticed several auto parts stores stock...

Re: Looking to buy: rust problems?
I was resistant to the L400, loving the look of the L300, but the more I read, the more I'm warming up to the idea. Especially for long highway road trips, which is what we're looking to do! http://www.delica.ca/forum/new-delica-hopeful-in-calgary-9659.html#p73451 It's now been 3.5 years but my fee...

Re: Is L400 centre floor pre-drilled for both types of seats
Tony I have captains chairs in my middle row seating. Easier to get around than the bench seat. There are 2 tracks for each seat in the floor. Both seats ride on their own rails. TLGF That makes sense, but what I am wondering is - are the holes into which the captain's seat rails bolt on the floor ...

Is L400 centre floor pre-drilled for both types of seats?
I've decided that I would rather, at the moment, have a 7-seater L400 than my current SWB 8-seater (i.e. two captains chairs in the middle row rather than the bench-plus-jump-seat). Since I have a lot of history with my current van, I'd rather change out the seating arrangement than try to sell it a...

Re: Gas>Diesel?
Nice to see a thread that touches a nerve! If gasoline engines were superior in every way, all the time, Mitsubishi wouldn't have bothered making them. They are each better under different circumstances. Gasoline engines have a lot of advantages to be sure; some of which you touched on. However: - D...

Re: 94 l400 bucking when cold
Not sure if it was mentioned, but I was having starting issues, so I bought new plugs thinking it was probably them. Took it all apart, tested each old plug, they were all good. Cleaned it up, put it back together, and it has started as good as ever, half a crank, very little warmup. Just cleaning ...

Re: What is this and where does it go?
From the Russky club`s L400 electrical schematic - shop manual: L400 OEM DRLs.PNG Diagram E shows what appears to be those relays Mine does not have them, but whoever set up my original DRLs tapped power to drive the bulbs directly out of the wiring harness and then wrapped the whole mess up in elec...

Re: What is this and where does it go?
What year is your L400? From the electrical schematics, some had DRL relays mounted under the fuse box.
