Re: Timing Issue
interference engine we are... sounds like the cam shaft would not be rotating while everything else would be...how did you get it home? tow? check under the valve cover. maybe a lifter broke?? spring broke? causing you to not be able to rotate...that would be a very nice solution. that could still l...

backflush heater core
I was just trying to backflush my heater core and got nowhere with it. passing water in the normal flow direction was no problem, but all I could do backwards was pressurize the line. Is there a valve somewhere behind the firewall? its pretty cramped in there and don't really want to rip it apart as...

Re: clutch slave cylinder acting up?
It always turns out to be a big job!!! there was nothing wrong with the clutch/components other than needing a new clutch due to age. (it was not the cause of my symptoms) The transmission was my problem. majority of the bearings were toast, including one where it was pretty much running race on rac...

800 celcius is 1475 F. regular old aluminum has melting point near 1200F, where as I have no idea what our heads/pistons alum alloy compound truly is. anyways, from earlier topics about temps, I though 1200F post/1400F pre turbo was a peak and to be held for only a short amount of time. otherwise, w...

Re: Strange tire wear...what could be causing it??
if you are hearing a clunk upon impacts, look into your ball joints, I had the same type of wear on one tire...did my ball joints all around as they all needed to be changed out. not too hard to do, get teh press tool from CT for free (full refund upon tool return). saves you about 500 bucks doing i...

Re: Lighting issues, no tail lights!!!
just had the same problem myself. turned out to be a dodgy fusible link not getting proper contact for some reason. it was arcing and caused a little metal/plastic buildup. simple test. see if you are getting power to the fusible link. if so, try the wire connection under the steering column connect...

Re: clutch slave cylinder acting up?
I checked the fluid level, it was at halfway, pretty sure it was full whenever I looked at it last. I bleed the line a little with no bubbles or burps and topped it off. I don't think its made a difference as all symptoms are still there. I'll take a look at master/flexi line/slave boot this weekend...

clutch slave cylinder acting up?
just yesterday my truck became quite hard to shift (5spd manual). sometimes I can't even get it back into first gear unless I first put it in forth, then drop down through the gears to first (makes me think syncros are wierd...). Reverse is also very difficult. It likes to grind some gears now..I do...

running 5w40 semi-syn this winter and can see a difference between that and 0w40 synthetic.
block heater for 1-1.5hrs did the trick, but it never would have fired up on its own, battery just would have died on me.

even if it is the same block, it could be slightyl different material composition, which would probably be very priveleged information not available to the public.

the van wouldnt feel unstable in that type of situation.. as far as its concerned it is on a 'frictionless' surface. pout the van into a slide like that on pavement and you will feel something completely different.

Re: Jamming engine
it doesnt matter if you have a manual or automatic tranny....putting it in gear, 4low, ebrake etc. will not hold. there is too much give in the driveline, roll in the wheels etc. I had to lock my flywheel. I did this by removing the 'half circle' cover and putting a piece of steel from the tranny su...

don't like, just one more thing to make people more stupid behind the wheel, the current example around Canada/US is taking away the need to learn how to parallel park.

Re: L300 standard transmission
does anyone know if the 4.63 will fit into a L300? :? :-D I know there is a thread somewhere with key dimensions and pictures of a front and rear differential for an L300. I have used it before to determine what size diffs I had on my truck, but I can't recall right now. If someone can forward that...
